Please welcome Hawk to River Valley Animal Rescue.
Before anyone comments, please know that Hawk’s owner reached out to us about a week ago. Since then, we have had several conversations together about what would be best for Hawk given the circumstances his owner is currently facing. Today’s surrender was not a quick decision. It was a decision made with love, tears, and a heavy heart.
We ask that there be no negative comments. Hawk’s owner tried everything he could. Sometimes life puts people in situations they never imagined, and the hardest thing a person can do is put their dog’s needs ahead of their own feelings.
Today was one of the saddest goodbyes we have witnessed. Both Hawk and his owner were crying. The bond between them was undeniable. Hawk has been with his owner since he was just 3 weeks old. He is now 8 years old, and for those eight years he has been deeply loved.
Hawk is a 36-pound mixed-breed boy who is truly the bestest dog ever. He is potty trained, has been around other dogs and children, and does great with both. He is a happy, affectionate dog who deserves a soft place to land while he waits for his next family.
We would love for Hawk’s stay with us to be as short as possible. Please share his story far and wide. Let’s come together and help this wonderful boy find the loving home he deserves.
