By My Side Dog Camp By My Side, LLC offers off leash group hiking adventures and solo leashed walks in Richmond, VT Dog Camp is an off leash group hiking adventure.

The mission of By My Side, LLC is to enhance the lives of dogs and the people they live with by offering services that provide enrichment, exercise, training, and socialization. Pups are picked up from their homes in the morning and brought on a 2 hour hike where they practice their off leash skills, play with other dogs, and explore an enriching environment. They arrive home in the early afternoo

n having their physical and mental needs met, and ready for a relaxing evening when their family returns from work and school. By My Side LLC serves the town of Richmond, VT. We currently are accepting clients to start camp on Fridays in March 2022.

At camp we practice exercises to help the dogs be more calm, focused, and under control.

These activities can include a group stay, pack walking, treat scatters, or working through Karen Overall’s protocol for relaxation. Sometimes I take out a book and read a little bit out loud to the dogs. I call this “story time” and it’s inspired by seeing online posts about shelters that have volunteers read to the dogs.

If I have a dog that’s prone to wandering off or getting in other dogs’ space without the structure of an obedience exercise, I might put them on a long line to prevent them from making those choices. But otherwise I let the dogs do what they want while I read as long as they stay close and are engaging in calm and appropriate behaviors. Often times dogs do choose to lay down and listen!
