🎃🐾 Pumpkin for Pets: Helpful or Hype?

Pumpkin isn't just for Halloween! Plain, canned pumpkin is packed with fiber and can sometimes help dogs and cats with mild digestive issues, including constipation or diarrhea.

But not all pumpkin is created equal!

✅ Plain, 100% canned pumpkin is the way to go.

❌ Pumpkin pie filling contains added sugar and spices that aren't appropriate for pets.

And remember, pumpkin isn't a cure-all! Persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation can signal something more serious and should be evaluated by your veterinarian.

🦷 Even Baby Teeth Can Cause Big Problems!🦷

Meet Moxie, an adorable 4-month-old kitten who recently visited us with a fractured deciduous tooth (a baby tooth)!

Although baby teeth eventually fall out, a broken tooth can expose the sensitive pulp inside, leading to pain and infection. In Moxie's case, the damaged tooth needed to be surgically extracted to prevent complications, including a possible abscess or interference with the developing adult tooth.

Take a look at Moxie's dental X-ray! You can actually see the developing permanent canine tooth beneath the baby tooth.

This is a great reminder that dental health matters at every age! Even puppies and kittens can develop dental problems that need attention. Regular oral exams help us catch these issues early, before they become painful or cause lasting damage.

🍫🎃 Keep the Candy for the Humans! 🎃🍫

Halloween treats can spell trouble for our pets. Chocolate, raisins, and especially xylitol—a sweetener found in some sugar-free candies and gum—can be dangerous or even life-threatening.

Keep candy bowls and trick-or-treat bags safely out of reach, and if your pet gets into something they shouldn’t, give us a call!

🍂Fall is Here—But So Are Some Seasonal
Hazards!🍂

As the weather cools down, keep an eye out for a few
autumn dangers that can put your pets at risk:

🍄 Wild Mushrooms: Some varieties are highly toxic if
eaten.

🐀 Rodenticides: Rat and mouse poisons can be
deadly to pets.

🚗 Antifreeze: Even small amounts can cause
life-threatening poisoning.

🌙 Shorter Days: Less daylight means reduced
visibility during evening walks. Consider reflective
collars or leashes!

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather, but keep those furry
family members safe!

Keeping your pet healthy isn't just about treating problems—it’s also about finding changes before they become obvious.
