💚Getting to know Dr. KJ!

Since joining QCVC in June 2020, Dr. KJ has been dedicated to helping pets live their healthiest lives. Today, we’re sharing a little about her approach to veterinary care and the things she loves outside the clinic!

🩺 A pet health tip from Dr. KJ: Don’t wait until your pet seems sick to schedule bloodwork! Some diseases, including kidney and liver disease, can go unnoticed in their early stages. Annual bloodwork helps us identify potential problems early and understand what’s normal for your individual pet.

🐾 What does she see most often? GI disease in dogs and kidney disease in cats.

❤️ A little about Dr. KJ: She adores her husband, Brandon, and their 4-year-old son, Kaladin. Outside of work, you might find her playing board games with friends, hiking, swimming, or playing soccer. She’s also a proud dog mom to two Goldendoodles, Zella and Willow!

🎉 From 5th-year rotation associate to official QCVC team member! 🐾 Help us give a warm welcome to Dr. Henkel, who has officially joined our team as an associate veterinarian! We’re so excited to have him continuing his journey with us and can’t wait for you all to get to know him. 💙

We tried the picture prank trend, but he caught on pretty quickly! 😂 Thankfully, he was a good sport and played along with us! 📸

Say hello to sweet Hattie! 🐶💗 At just 13 weeks old, this Cavalier King Charles Spaniel came in for her puppy vaccine boosters and received her first Lepto vaccine.

Once home, her family noticed swelling and tenderness in her left leg, as well as regurgitation. They kept a close eye on her, but when her symptoms progressed, they brought her back to see us. Our team treated her for a potential allergic response with a diphenhydramine injection and provided instructions for continued Benadryl at home.

Hattie’s visit is a great reminder to monitor your pet after vaccinations and contact your veterinary team if you notice concerning symptoms. We’re thrilled to feature this sweet girl as our Pet of the Month! 🐾❤️

🍁 A new season, a chance to breathe easier! 🐶

For our flat-faced friends, breathing difficulties can be more than just snoring. Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) can affect a pet’s comfort, activity, and quality of life.

BOAS correction surgery, which may include widening the nostrils and shortening an elongated soft palate, can help improve airflow in appropriate candidates. Cooler fall and winter temperatures can also make this a good time to discuss surgical options with your veterinarian. 🧡
