Mobile Radiographs, Right at the Farm

One of the advantages of Arizona Mobile Vet is that all three of our trucks are equipped with digital radiography, allowing us to diagnose and treat injuries on-site.

This 2-month-old goat kid had gotten his leg stuck two days earlier and had been non-weight-bearing ever since. On examination, abnormal movement was noted in the limb, raising concern for a fracture.

After sedation, radiographs confirmed a complete metatarsal fracture. Using traction, we were able to improve alignment and apply a cast to stabilize the leg.

We will continue to monitor healing and obtain follow-up radiographs before cast removal to ensure the bone is healing properly.

Having mobile radiography allows us to provide immediate diagnostics and treatment, giving patients like this little guy the best chance for a full recovery.

Here are a few preventative measures you can take to prevent heat stress in your pigs.

Providing our piggies with fresh cool water, shade, mud pits and fans are critical in keeping them cool in the heat. Since pigs do not sweat, they pant or breathe out their mouth, to try and cool their body temperature. Allowing them to wallow in the mud helps keep their body temperature down. Feeding tasty frozen treats such as watermelon in the summer is also a nice treat to help with hydration.

🐎🦷AZMVP is your horse’s one stop shop for health, wellness and dental care. The mouth is often overlooked and can often be the culprit for issues we see in our equine companions. Horse teeth erupt at 3-5 mm per year and for most of our Arizona horses not on pasture it’s more growth than they can keep up with. The average horse will have some mild overgrowth by six months following their float and moderate by 1 year out. Over the years we have found many of our companion and competition horses benefit greatly from bi-annual exams and floats. This is also a perfect time to discuss any other concerns about your horse with our vets.
