🐾💕 KITTIES OF THE WEEK: THOMAS, MUNCHKIN & LUNE! 💕🐾

Meet these three beautiful tabbies who are looking for someone to give them a chance at a forever home! 🏡❤️

Thomas, Munchkin, and Lune came into rescue when they were just 10 months old. They've always been friendly with people, but their world has been pretty small. They've had minimal interaction with anyone outside of the wonderful lady who raised them and the other animals they've known. 🐱💗

After spending two months at PetSmart, we decided these sweet babies needed a little break. They're currently settling into a foster home where they're getting the chance to meet other cats, interact with new people, and build their confidence in a home environment. 🐾✨

💕 Meet their personalities!

🐈 Thomas is our social butterfly! He may need a little time to get over his initial fear when entering a new situation, but once he feels comfortable, his friendly personality shines through! 🌟

🐈‍⬛ Lune takes a little more time to warm up, but once she gets past that initial shock of a new situation, she becomes a wonderful friend! Sometimes the sweetest friendships just take a little patience. 💖

🐈 Munchkin is ready to explore and check things out! She's the most aloof of the three overall, but she deserves the same opportunity to feel safe, loved, and comfortable in her own time. 🥰

These precious babies have experienced a lot of changes recently, and adjusting to new people and environments can be overwhelming. But sometimes, a little patience, a safe space, and a whole lot of love are all it takes to help a kitty blossom! 🌸❤️

They don't need someone to expect perfection on day one. They just need someone willing to give them a chance. 🏡🐾

The amazing support we continue to receive from all of you absolutely amazes us! 💕 We are so incredibly grateful for every donation, share, and kind word. Unfortunately, the needs never stop, and we are always working to keep up with the care our cats and kittens deserve. ❤️

Transparency is important to us, so we strive to keep everyone updated on our kitties, their needs, and our financial situation. We want you to know exactly where we stand and how your support makes a difference! 🐱💗

🏥 VET BILLS & MEDICAL UPDATES 🏥

As always, we are desperately working to bring down our vet bill. Every dollar makes a difference in helping us continue to provide care for the kitties who need us most!

Sweet BB is having surgery today! 😻 BB lost her eye to an infection before coming into our care, and today she'll have her eye socket cleaned out and closed up, along with being spayed. Once she's healed, she'll be ready to find her very own forever home! 🏡❤️

That leaves us with just ONE more eye surgery coming up! 🙏 Every step forward brings us closer to getting these babies healthy and ready for their happily-ever-afters.

🐾 OUR LITTLE FIP WARRIORS 🐾

Our two little FIP babies are making progress! 🥹💕 Their bellies are coming down, and they're growing, playing, and living their little lives to the fullest! Watching them improve is such a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.

We are SO incredibly thankful that a treatment exists to save these precious lives! 💖 Please keep these little fighters in your thoughts as they continue their treatment and recovery. 🐈✨

Becca & Cait both live on the Gulf Coast. Becca evacuated and Cait is riding it out. They handle the volunteers- we just ask for a little patience. Once this hurricane passes and we can get back to normal, we will reach out to everyone.

Anyone already onboarded and wanting to volunteer , reach out to Molly Johns this week. She is the volunteer manager at the rescue, she can delegate PetSmart & Rescue chores this week 😀

🐾💙 VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHT: WENDY DUNN 💙🐾

Today we want to shine the spotlight on an amazing volunteer who has been with us from the very beginning — Wendy Dunn! 🌟🐱

Wendy was volunteering for Cait even before Second Chance Cat Rescue was officially established. She and her husband, Garry, absolutely LOVE kitties! 🥰🐾 They currently have 2 cats at home, and once he’s ready, little Dean will be joining their kitty family too! 😻🏡

Every Sunday, Wendy faithfully cleans the PetSmart cages — not only for our kitties in Prattville, but also for PAWS in Montgomery! 🧹🐱 She takes such amazing care of the cats and always makes sure to report back if she notices any issues or concerns. We are so thankful to know our kitties are in such caring hands! ❤️

Wendy also makes it to as many of our events and fundraisers as she possibly can. She is always willing to help, always ready to jump in, and truly goes above and beyond for Second Chance. 🙌💙

Wendy, we are incredibly grateful for everything you do for the kitties and for us! Thank you for your time, your dedication, your compassion, and of course, all the love you give to our rescue babies. 🐾❤️

🐾❤️ KITTY OF THE WEEK: (SANTA) CRUZ ❤️🐾

Cruz has been waiting for his forever home for an entire year. 😿💔 We just know his special person is out there somewhere!

Cruz came to us as part of the group of kitties trapped at MOBIS, which is how he got his name from one of their cars. 🚗🐱 He was approximately 8–10 months old when he came into rescue, and he has grown into a handsome classic orange tabby with so much love to give. 🧡

Cruz is a little different from some cats. He seems to be a one-person kind of guy. Once he chooses you… YOU’RE HIS PERSON! 😻 Right now, he has claimed Chrissy, but we would love nothing more than to find someone he can call his very own. 🥰

He may need a little patience and time to warm up, but once he trusts you, Cruz will show you what a loving boy he really is. ❤️

Because he can occasionally get spooked and react, Cruz may not be the best match for young children. A calm home where he can take his time getting comfortable would be ideal. 🏡🐾

And here’s something extra special… Cruz has a twin sister! 😍 His sister is (Santa) Fe, a beautiful mackerel tabby. 🐱🐱 Imagine adopting this amazing pair of twins and giving them their forever home together! 💕🏠

🐾 Wednesday Wishlist 🐾

First, a HUGE thank you to everyone who has made donations! ❤️ We are slowly chipping away at our vet bill, and every single donation makes a difference. 🥹🐱

However, BB (pictured) has officially weaned her babies AND her foster kittens and is ready for her eye surgery and spay. 🥰

BB had a terrible eye infection when she was younger. Her eye ruptured and came out before she was surrendered to us. Now she will be going in to have the eye cleaned out and closed up, and she will be spayed at the same time. While this is an exciting step for BB because she will finally be ready for adoption, it is also another big hit to our already-growing vet bill. 💔🐾

We also have 3 kittens going in for spay/neuter on Thursday! Once they recover, they will be ready for adoption too. 🐱🐱🐱💕

We have also completely depleted our supply of FVRCP vaccines. 😳 To get enough vaccines to finish all of our current fosters and have enough for the babies we currently have, we need 3 trays, which will cost about $450.

FVRCP protects our kitties from serious respiratory viruses, and it is significantly more cost-effective for Chrissy to administer the vaccines herself than to have them vaccinated elsewhere. 💉🐈

We are also getting LOW on:
🐾 Cat litter
🐾 Wet cat food

It's currently Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, so there may be some amazing deals on these items! 🛒💙

Wet food is totally flexible, with one exception: our little boujee kitten who refuses to eat anything except fishy Sheba cuts. 😂🐟

Unfortunately, we do have to be specific about litter because of reactions from Chrissy and several of our kitties. We need World's Best Cat Litter corn litter. Honestly, the cheapest we've found recently has been at Walmart. 🐱🩷
