Golden Bond Retriever Rescue

Golden Bond Retriever Rescue Goldens in need of new homes come from a variety of circumstances. Some of our dogs have not had a loving family in the past, but many have.

Golden Bond Retriever Rescue is an all volunteer run, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers and Retriever mixes. Some come to us due to compelling family situations such as death, divorce, family illness, relocation or economic hardship. Other Goldens are released to rescue because of behavior problems due to lack of exercise and poor un

derstanding of the needs of the breed. Like many rescue organizations, we offer the benefits of being able to provide dogs who are already spayed or neutered, who have had a sound fundamental health examination, and whose temperament is fairly well known (since they have all lived with our foster families). Some may have behavioral problems, but many do not. And some need special medical care, just as most any dog will eventually. Many of our dogs need some level of training. All of our dogs need significant amounts of time, attention, patience, and love to adjust to their forever homes. Golden Bond Rescue is a resource for people who would like to give Golden Retrievers (or dogs that are mostly Golden) a second chance in life.

CALLING ALL LAB LOVERS!

Look at this handsome 16-month-old chocolate Lab! Poor Boomer has been dealt a bad hand; at a very young age, he was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia, and he's in pain. The good news is that he has recently been seen by a specialist and has been deemed a good candidate for total hip replacement. Golden Bond would really like to get him this surgery, but we need your help. We need a committed foster or foster to adopt to see him through the surgery and recovery.

Boomer is a big (110 pounds!) tall and joyful boy, so he's going to need someone in good physical shape to work with him. He loves other dogs, but he'll do best in a home with a calm dog or no other dog since he will need to be kept quiet immediately after his surgery, plus he should not be playing with other dogs while recovering, Ideally we'd like to keep him in the Portland area so he can get the surgery with the specialist who has seen him.

The owners love him dearly and have been able to keep him while he got neutered, but they are elderly with medical issues and they can no longer physically handle him.

Please consider opening your heart and home to this boy, and SHARE THIS POST with someone you think might be able to help him. For questions and more information, please contact [email protected].

Sometimes life changes occur where an owner can no longer keep their dog. This proved to be the situation for 13-year-old Max, who could no longer negotiate the many stairs in the home where he lived. So Golden Bond volunteers put on their thinking caps and worked hard to find Max an amazing new home.

We're happy to report that Max hit the jackpot with his adopter and is doing very well, and is already quite attached to her.

Thanks to Joshua for helping with transport and to Darline for opening her home to Max. Here's to an incredible second chapter, filled with joy, love, and endless tail wags! 🐾❤️

🐾 ❤️ Sam 4233 is ready to look for his forever home!!!! ❤️🐾

In the last two months 2-year-old Sam's confidence in meeting people and other dogs on walks has changed significantly. He's much more confident, less afraid, and in most cases his reactive behavior (barking) is now more like normal excited dog behavior with his trying to say hello and meet new friends. We still caution people to not rush Sam; let him come to them first if possible. Once he's sniffed and nudged a hand, they can pet him.

Sam still struggles with people coming into his home. He is getting better, but this is still a work in progress. He's not been in a home yet where there are a lot of people and activity, so he's not been exposed enough to learn how regulate those feelings. He'll get there; he just needs people willing to help him adjust to their lifestyle. Don't let his shaky start fool you—Sam is a total sweetheart with zero malice in his body!

Sam deserves a home of his own. Might it be yours? Sam is being fostered in the Eugene, OR area.

Introducing Bear 4503! This big handsome, cuddly, water-loving golden/lab is ready to find his forever home. Bear is a 5-year-old neutered male who is big fella currently on a weight loss journey. He checks in at 108 lbs and the vet says he needs to shoot for about 90 lbs. The good news is he's active, likes to play ball, take walks, play with other dogs and LOVES to swim, so losing those pounds shouldn't be too hard. He does pretty well on leash with a harness; he is strong and can pull if something grabs his attention. He could use some continued training with this but overall is ok. He is good with other dogs and in his current foster home, there is a dog savvy cat, and he has adjusted well. He is house trained and can be left alone, although probably not all day because he likes his humans. One of the only 'negative' things about Bear is that he isn't a huge fan of baths or having his feet touched. He can get baths in the river, but some tricks and a little work might help with this. He also loves car rides and adventures.

Bear is the sweetest boy who is just looking for his forever home with humans to bond with.

If you are an approved applicant, please reach out to your adoption manager. If you'd like more information on Bear, please reach out to
