Jolly and his mom came into tricks class asking, “Can we learn the leave it today? Like, on the nose?”

It was just them in class 😉 so of course I had to say yes!

25 minutes later… guess who had it all figured out? This guy really lives for learning. 🙌✨♥️

What a weekend at the IFA World Franchise Show in Fort Lauderdale! 🐾🌴

We loved connecting with passionate entrepreneurs and sharing how Zoom Room is transforming the dog training experience through a differentiated, community-centric, scalable model designed to meet an unmet need in pet services.

A huge thank you to our incredible Zoom Room-HQ Team for bringing the energy, teamwork and enthusiasm all weekend! 💙🧡

And, a special thank you to Saint Rocco’s Treats for sending healthy, delicious treats home with our pet parent-investors. 🐶🦴

Of course, the real star of the show was Leo! ⭐️ Our Australian Cattle Dog wowed prospects for hours with his impressive Zoom Room skills. He definitely stole the spotlight… and we’re totally okay with it! 😂🐾

POV: You spent months training your puppy…only for them to wake up one morning like, “Sit? Sorry, have we met?” 🐶😂

✅Yesterday: Nailed every cue.
🍁Today: Deeply invested in a leaf.
❓Tomorrow: Honestly, TBD.

But here’s what’s really happening: Your dog hasn’t forgotten their training. Their adolescent brain is still developing, hormones are shifting, emotions can run bigger, and the environment has become way more interesting. When excitement, frustration, or uncertainty rises, accessing familiar skills becomes harder.

💡Pro tip: Be careful not to create a poisoned cue. This happens when a word like “come” or “sit” is repeated, pressured, or followed by something unpleasant so often that your dog begins associating it with frustration instead of success. Say the cue once, lower the difficulty, and reward the response. If the cue has already developed negative baggage, introduce a fresh word and rebuild it through short, positive practice sessions.

The training is still in there…no cap. Your teenager just needs patience, consistency, and a little help finding it. 💯

Did you know… we started a Conformation Class?! 👀🐾
(At Ahwatukee for now)
Don’t know what that is? Let me explain!

Have you ever watched the Westminster Dog Show? Or maybe you’ve seen The National Dog Show, famously broadcast on Thanksgiving? You’ve probably seen beautiful dogs being walked around a ring while judges carefully evaluate them.

That’s conformation! 🏆

In conformation, judges are looking at how well a dog represents its breed standard—including things like structure, movement, body condition, temperament, and how well they’re presented and handled in the ring.

Now, clearly, we aren’t a giant dog show 😂 But our Conformation Class is designed to teach you and your dog the basics of conformation, build confidence as a team, practice proper ring handling and presentation, and get comfortable working in close quarters with other dogs—very much like what you’d experience at a real show!

Whether you’ve always wanted to try conformation, you’re interested in showing your dog, or you just want to learn something new together, we’d love to have you!

Curious about the class? Send us a message with any questions you have! 🐶

Low-key trained. High-key left alone during the fourth quarter. 🏈🪴Adolescent dogs have energy, curiosity, and a remarkable talent for finding their own entertainment.

💡Pro tip: Before settling in for the game, give your dog a training session, enrichment activity, or sniff-filled walk. Meeting their needs helps set them up for success.🐾

“Why is that boot lowkey giving villain energy?…I’m gonna need some treats before I process this.” 🐶

🗓️ Yesterday: totally fine.
🗓️ Today: that yellow boot is clearly suspicious.

Adolescent dogs can experience new fear periods, causing familiar sights, sounds, or objects to suddenly feel unfamiliar.

💡Pro tip: Give your dog space, pair the scary thing with something positive, and let them investigate at their own pace. Never force the interaction. Confidence grows through choice…not pressure.

Your “teenage” dog is collecting data. Yes, they’re taking notes. 👀📝

During adolescence, dogs might start experimenting with what works.

✔️Jumping gets attention? Noted.👀
✔️Barking makes you look over? Interesting.🤔
✔️Pulling harder gets me there faster? Filing that away.📂

Every interaction gives them information..

➡️ I did this.
➡️ Something happened.
➡️ Should I try it again?

That’s why consistency matters so much during this stage. If a behavior sometimes works, even accidentally, it may be worth repeating.

Our job? Make the behaviors we want to see more often work better than the ones we don’t. Reward the check-in. Reinforce four paws on the floor. Make coming when called worth it.

Just remember…they’re not just “testing you.” They’re just learning what works. 🧠🐾

09/04/2026

We’re about to tell you to throw your dog’s breakfast on the floor.

No cap. It’s called scatter feeding..and behavioral science is here for it. 🔥🧠

Instead of serving their entire meal in a bowl, scatter some kibble across a safe space and let your dog sniff, search and forage. Why? Sniffing and foraging tap into natural behaviors, provide mental enrichment and give that busy adolescent brain something productive to focus on.

Give the nose an assignment before the teenage brain creates one of its own. 👀😂

💡PRO TIP: Start easy. Choose a quiet, safe space, scatter the food and let your dog follow their nose. As they get the hang of it, you can make the search more challenging.

And pay attention: if your normally food-motivated dog is too distracted or overwhelmed to search, that’s information, too.

Sometimes enrichment doesn’t need to be complicated.

Scatter. Sniff. Search. Reset. 🐾 Indian Trail Zoom Room 👏

🚨 EVERYONE REMAIN CALM. OUR SOCIALS HAVE NOT BEEN HACKED. 🚨

We have, however, made the questionable decision to take creative direction from a few Gen Alphas during our September “Teenage Phase” campaign.

So if you see words like mid, sus, delulu, or no cap popping up around here… congratulations. You’re learning a new language with us. 🤣…and yes, all slang remains under the watchful eye of Certified Professional Dog Trainers. The lingo may be questionable. The training advice isn’t.

But in all seriousness, adolescence is an incredibly important chapter in a young dog’s life. It can bring big feelings, selective hearing, new fears, testing boundaries, and plenty of moments that leave pet parents wondering, “Wait… what happened to my puppy?”

They’re still in there. They’re just growing up. 🧡

Throughout September, we’re here to help you understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and how the right training and support now can help build confidence, strengthen your bond, and set your dog up for success well beyond the teenage phase.

Welcome to the chaos era. We’ve got you. No cap. 🐾

Sooo Mom says puppy class is “an investment in my teenage years.”

IDK what that means…but I get to see my trainer Sophie, so this is lowkey fire. 🔥🐶

For the older humans: that means very exciting. Nothing is actually on fire. The fire department does not need to be involved. 🚒😂

Next stop🚙: Zoom Room for puppy class. No cap….(we can save the definition for “no cap” on another post) 🐾

Okay my fellow dog people… let’s see what you’ve got. 😂🐶
I’ve got a little breed-guessing challenge for you!

Some of these are easy.
Some of these SEEM easy. 😉
And some of them might have you second guessing yourself. 😂

Scroll through, make your guesses, and drop them in the comments!
Let’s see how many you can get right. 👀🐾

In a day or so I’ll circle back around and check answers!

And yes- fellow zoom room employees… that includes you😌
All of you. Good luck 🙌

All jokes aside… having the right reward is WAY more important than most people realize.

When we tell you to bring your dog’s highest-value reward, we’re not just trying to spoil them.

Think about it this way…

If someone offered to pay you with cookies for doing your dream job… you’d probably still show up.

But if they offered you those same cookies to clean public bathrooms for eight hours? Suddenly, those cookies don’t seem so motivating.

Dogs are the same.

The more difficult or distracting the environment, the more valuable the reward needs to be.

Training in your quiet living room? Kibble might be perfectly fine.
Walking through Home Depot, taking an agility class, practicing around squirrels, or asking your dog to ignore another dog? You’re asking a LOT more of them. That deserves a bigger paycheck.

One of the biggest misconceptions in dog training is that if a dog won’t take a treat, they’re being stubborn or “don’t want to listen.”

More often than not, the reward simply isn’t valuable enough for what you’re asking… or the environment is so overwhelming that your dog can’t even think about food.

And that’s the important part:

If your dog won’t take food at all? That’s information, not failure.

It tells us something about how your dog is feeling in that moment. Maybe the reward needs to be more exciting. Maybe the environment is too challenging. Or maybe we simply need to take a step back and make the exercise easier before asking for more.

Training isn’t about forcing our dogs to work through discomfort. It’s about setting them up to succeed.

Our goal isn’t to bribe dogs into behaving.

Our goal is to make working with us worth their while.

When your dog learns, “Listening to my person pays really well,” choosing you becomes easy. Even when life is full of distractions.

So next time we say, “Bring your dog’s highest-value reward,” we really mean it. ❤️

🐶 What’s your dog’s absolute favorite reward? Hot dogs? Cheese? Freeze-dried liver? A tennis ball? We’d love to know, we’ve seen some pretty interesting ones!

Two very good boys, two very different personalities, and both looking for their people. 🐾

Logan is confident, curious, and ready to explore the world with you. After being attacked by another dog in the past, he’d do best as your one-and-only pup. ❤️

Wh***ey is a little more cautious, but this energetic guy has plenty of personality waiting to come out as he gets comfortable. 🥰

Come meet Logan, Wh***ey, and their friends from Arfanage Dog Rescue this Saturday at our Chandler location. You might just meet your new best friend. 🐶💙
