This poor boy needs hospice foster…
UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who has been praying for Burton, sharing his story, and keeping him in your hearts. 💙 The outpouring of love has truly been overwhelming.
Because of all the shares, we have received a number of wonderful foster applications for this incredibly sweet boy. We are so grateful for each and every person who stepped forward with such kindness and compassion.
At this time, we are carefully reviewing the applications to determine the placement that will give Burton the happiest, most comfortable days possible, surrounded by love, until it is his time.
Thank you again for standing with him and with us. We will be in touch as we narrow things down and move forward. Your support means more than we can ever put into words. 🐾💙

Sadly, we don’t have good news about Burton.
We had hoped that dental issues would be his biggest hurdle—but that isn’t the case.
Ironically, his teeth are actually in pretty good shape. The heartbreaking reality is that Burton has advanced kidney disease. It is so severe, and he is so profoundly muscle-wasted, that his bloodwork didn’t even give fully reliable results. His deeply sunken, recessed eyes—likely from years of malnutrition—also suggest that his vision is significantly compromised. And as if all of that weren’t enough, Burton is declawed.
Trying to imagine this incredibly friendly, gentle, stunning boy surviving outdoors for so many years is absolutely devastating.
While Burton likely doesn’t have a long time left, he is currently stable. He’s eating, drinking, and urinating well, and he uses the litter box perfectly. He tolerates other cats, but his interactions can sometimes be a bit challenging. Part of this is likely due to his impaired vision, and part of it is that he can be a little behaviorally inappropriate—he’ll sometimes walk right into other cats without realizing it, which understandably causes them to react. That reaction then startles him in return, creating a bit of a vicious cycle. Because of this, he would do best in a calm environment with tolerant cats or a low-drama household.
What Burton truly loves—what he craves—is simply being around others and feeling included.
Because of the number of cats in my home, Burton has to spend much of his time confined to a small space, and it breaks my heart. I can see how sad it makes him. He just wants to be out with everyone, soaking in companionship and love.
We are desperately searching for a hospice-style foster home for Burton—someone who can give him the comfort, dignity, and affection he has been denied for so much of his life.
His needs are very manageable:
• Occasional appetite stimulant or anti-nausea meds
• Subcutaneous fluids as needed on tougher days
• Lots and lots of love
That’s it.
We will provide all medications, food, and cover all veterinary care. Burton is incredibly easygoing, laid-back, and sweet. He asks for so little—and deserves so much more than life has given him.
Please, please consider helping us give this beautiful soul the best weeks or months he has left.
Burton deserves warmth, kindness, and love at the end of his journey. 💔🐾
