It was the end of May 2025 when the Pennsylvania SPCA put out a call for seasoned foster parents for a Shepherd mix who was protective of her puppies. 1300 comments and over 800 shares and it was me they called to take her. She was a good Mama and everybody was adopted their first weekend available in July.

As soon as the last Corgi puppy was adopted in February 2023, I took in a Rough-coated Jack Shih-T Mom and singlet from a puppy mill seizure. Their court case dragged on for some time and they were both adopted when it finally wrapped up.

It was December 23, 2022 when the day started out balmy and ended with temperatures in the teens with flash freezing going on all over. I headed down and back from the Pennsylvania SPCA to pick up my first puppy mill family that had been seized. They were surrendered prior to the closing of their court case. I got to evaluate matches and befriend the puppies' adopters. Even mom was adopted almost immediately via social media posts.

I was riding home from a July of 2022 vacation, feeling very well rested, when I agreed to take in a hound mixed mom and her ten? 11? puppies. Nobody was interested in supplemental feedings so the puppy formula was fed to Mom to enrich her milk supply. My only experience with mastitis and she nursed those puppies right through it. As they were weaning, the Littles got extra time on the ninnies and the chonks would nurse after the bird babies fell asleep. Everyone in this litter and Mom were adopted.

Cerberus passed on November 14th, 2021 and I learned on the 15th that one of the puppies born in pspca custody had been returned to the shelter when her foster family moved out of state. She's either cerberus's granddaughter or daughter, it was hard to tell because of the living arrangements of the dogs at the time of seizure. She'd been living there for several months. She came in to my home about a week later and I adopted her when that court case wrapped up after many years of litigation.

November 6th, 2020 the Starla family arrived. At 9 months she was way too young to be a mother and a heavy-handed one at that. Their court case didn't clear up till around 4 months of age and they were all adopted into good homes.

In February of 2015 I took in my second Humane Law Enforcement foster, Susie, was also a surrender with mammary cancer. She became a hospice foster and doubled the amount of time she was expected to live from two to four months.
