Strides Riding Academy offers lessons 7 days a week, training for young horses through competitive show mounts, boarding, high school and middle school IEA teams, show prep and coaching. We also have extensive programs for younger beginner riders that include summer camps, Sunday horse clubs, introductory pony lessons and a large group of lesson horses and ponies to start riding on. The mission at Strides Riding Academy is to teach beginner through advanced riders how to be confident, caring and committed horse people with a curriculum that educates both inside and outside of the arena. Using a structure that promotes a positive attitude about setting goals, understanding unique learning styles, and overcoming challenges, we develop riders who take the ups and downs of life and riding in stride. STRIDES is the collaboration of two devoted riding instructors who believe that within each individual resides the potential to be a great equestrian. Our combined 20 years of teaching experience has taught us that, like every horse, each rider has their own unique way of learning. With emphasis on safety and strong foundations, we seek to draw out the best in all of our students.

A big welcome to Paula Michael!

After many months of waiting, we are SO excited to officially introduce Paula Michael as the new Operations Manager at Strides Riding Academy!

Paula Michael spent 20 years with the City and County of San Francisco, where she was a founding member of San Francisco 311, the city’s customer service center and non-emergency phone line. Before SF311, customer service was rarely a priority in government. Paula and her team set out to change that. She helped build SF311 from the ground up, hiring staff, developing procedures that didn’t exist, and creating processes to fit new technology, growing it into a department of more than 100 employees. She later managed training, quality assurance, and workforce management, bringing real customer service and accountability to local government.

Paula started riding at age 7, training and competing at a hunter/jumper barn in Maryland. After stepping away from the saddle to raise a family and build her career, she returned to riding five years ago. She’s happiest on the trails at Briones Regional Park and enjoys helping care for horses alongside their owners.

She retired from the city to start her next chapter, combining her passion for horses with her love of operations. After 20 years building programs and teams, she’s excited to put that experience to work for the riders, families, horses, and staff who make up the Strides community.

Please help us give Paula a big Strides welcome in the comments! ❤️

A few moments from our latest IEA horse show. 🐴 Our riders did a great job, and it was so good to see their hard work show in the ring. Good rides, lessons to take home, and teammates cheering from the sidelines.

Proud of this Strides crew! Thank you to our trainers and families for supporting our riders every step of the way.
