I’m super stoked for my two Owari Satsuma Mandarin trees in the greenhouse!!

These are a cold hardy, drought tolerant trees that produce small, easy to peel, nearly seedless oranges that taste just like clementines.

And man, I can’t wait for my springtime orange blossoms!! Woo hoo!! 🍊

Hey Er’ry body!! We hope all is well with all our friends and followers out there!

We want to take a moment to let everyone know the Old Dog Farm Shop is OPEN!!!

Preserving…

We look for creative ways to preserve all the things!!

We’ve been making our huckleberry, lemon basil, spice boys basil, fig leaf syrups, and herb salt for a while now. These have been great ways to preserve herbs and huckleberries.

This year I grew peppers, mostly just for me - cause I love spice!! 🌶️ 🔥 and decided to dehydrate them and run ‘em through the food processor. It’s an amazing “crushed” pepper blend!

Then I came across a new-to-me way to preserve basil - in a way. Basil flower vinegar. This will sit a few days before I get to taste it and I’m really excited for this one!!

I’m over the days of slaving over a hot stove with dozens of canning jars atop every inch of counter space and then cleaning up all the mess… nope. If I can’t figure out an efficient and sensible way to preserve something, then the pigs get to have it! 😉🐷

Our huckleberry and lemon basil spritz have been big hits at towne !! Make sure you try one of these delicious and refreshing drinks next time you’re there for lunch or dinner!

Another batch of beautiful, perfect birds for the Berkshire boxes for our friends at Storm Acres Farm LLC. I had 10 birds ready for processing, so I knocked ‘em out in the rain yesterday morning. They look so good, it was worth the hassle!

Duckie is never far from his buddy, Doug. When his duck friend died a couple years ago, he attached himself to Doug - only he knows why. Doug is truly his ride or die 🤷‍♀️❤️

Big order of lard-based products completed for our friends at Storm Acres Farm LLC for the Oconee Farm Crawl this weekend! Go pay them a visit for lotions, sugar scrubs, and lip balms ALL made with lard from their Berkshire pigs!
