Ode to Deb White

Decades of memories with Deb White of Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary! What an extraordinary woman. The strongest woman I have ever known! She could be tough. Thankfully I never found myself on the receiving end of the wrath of Deb White, but over the years I sure did witness it. But as harsh and difficult as she could be, she would lift up and praise others.
Oh, the friendships that were born there over the years . . . friends that I am still in contact with. The young volunteers that had a safe place to stay . . . All the trips to Sturbridge Village around the holidays . . . All the Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean movies . . . Scream therapy in her truck . . . Winslow Farm was not only Heaven on earth for the animals. It was a safe place for all the humans to heal too.
Deb always said she would creep the love over to the next acre and the next acre and the next. She accomplished every goal she set out to complete. Thanks to her firm faith and commitment, so much land now abounds for the wildlife to remain and live safely. Deb said what she meant and meant what she said. She didn’t prance around people’s emotions. She clearly expressed the need to advocate for all animals! In her early auction days, the meat men didn’t stand a chance against her when she was focused on saving an animal. And save animals she did! When New York Lace Store sold fur coats, she would slip into the pockets brochures that educated people about the cruelty of the fur industry. Many a phone call I heard her say she would help with an animal’s medical bill if the person could not afford to pay, and I also heard her say, You committed yourself to taking care of this animal and now you need to stick with your commitment! Click!

I can only imagine the joy of her being reunited with her beloved Dad and Mom. Not to mention Stormy, Shiloh, little Mandy, Hershey, Stardust, Moses, Blossom, Turtle, and so many more loving souls!
I have no doubt that Deb will continue her reign from Above. If someone hasn’t already started to build an extension on that Throne, I would highly recommend someone get crackalackin! (Just sayin’! 🩷)

Arrive early and spend the day with lots of the fun things to do in the Middleboro, MA area. Enjoy the fall foliage on the ride, stop for lunch The Charred Oak Tavern or Harper Lane Brewery, and browsing at The Middleboro Antique Co-Op!

Dancing begins at 6:30pm at the Elks Club in Middleboro. Snacks provided or you can bring your own. Cash bar available.
