This big, chunky lovebug is ready for his next adventure! Sniff came from Blue Springs to NKC for a fresh start, and today he got to enjoy some awesome yard time! 🥹💚

💔 216 DAYS WITHOUT A HOME… MEET SNIFF!🐾❤️

This big, lovable boy spent so long waiting at the Blue Springs shelter! So he was transferred to NKC, hoping for a chance at the happy ending he deserves. 🥺

Today, Sniff got some much-needed yard time! He enjoyed the fresh air and got to just be a dog. And yes, he’s carrying a few extra pounds, but that just means more of him to love! 🥹❤️

🐾❤️ SNOOP IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WON’T GIVE UP ON HER.❤️🐾

Snoop has been through so much, and we’re learning more about what she needs to finally find her forever home. She is a nervous girl who will need a patient, understanding household willing to give her the time, love, and consistency she deserves.

Snoop has had a couple of meet-and-greets, but so far, neither has resulted in an adoption. We understand that finding the right match takes time, and we want to make sure Snoop finds someone who truly understands her needs. ❤️

Snoop needs someone willing to let her move at her own pace. It took her three days to begin feeling more comfortable, and we believe that having someone visit several days in a row could make a world of difference. Giving her the opportunity to become familiar with a person, recognize their scent, and realize they aren’t a threat may help her begin to trust.

She may not be the dog who runs up to you with a wagging tail on the first meeting. She may need time to watch you, learn your routine, and decide you’re someone she can feel safe around. But we believe she deserves the chance to find out what it feels like to have someone who is willing to wait. 🥹❤️

Snoop needs more than someone looking for a dog. She needs someone willing to build a relationship with her, one small step at a time.

She has already been through so much. We want her next chapter to be one filled with patience, safety, understanding, and unconditional love.

🐾 FOUND DOG – KANSAS CITY MISSOURI

A dog was found near 5057 NE 37th Street and has been taken to Kansas City Pet Project.

NKC found no microchips he was taken to KCPP because he was found in Kansas City limits.

If you believe this may be your dog, please contact Kansas City Pet Project to inquire about the dog and reclaiming your pet. Please have proof of ownership available.

❤️🐾 Oliver Update! 🐾❤️

Oliver is doing great in his new home! 🏡❤️ After a fun adventure to kick off his new chapter, he’s settling into life with his forever family!

There’s nothing better than hearing that one of our shelter babies is thriving after adoption. 🥹🐶 We are so happy Oliver is getting the love, comfort, and happiness he deserves.

🦌🚗 ITS DEER SEASON: SLOW DOWN & STAY ALERT🦌

As deer season gets underway, please remember that our roads can become especially dangerous for both drivers and wildlife. ❤️

🍂 A few important safety reminders:

• Slow down, especially on rural roads, near wooded areas, and at dawn and dusk when deer are most active.

• Watch for more than one deer! Deer often travel in groups, so if you see one cross the road, expect others to follow.

• Use your high beams when appropriate on dark roads, but switch to low beams when approaching other vehicles.

• Don't swerve to avoid a deer. Sudden swerving can cause you to lose control or collide with another vehicle. Brake firmly while maintaining control of your vehicle.

• Pay attention to deer crossing signs. These signs are there for a reason!

🐾 What if you hit a deer?

Pull over somewhere safe, turn on your hazard lights, and contact law enforcement if the collision creates a road hazard or someone is injured. Never approach an injured deer. Even a badly injured wild animal can kick, charge, or cause serious injury out of fear.

❤️ A little extra caution can save lives—yours and theirs. Please slow down, stay alert, and make it home safely. Share the road with our wildlife this season! 🦌🍂

Edit: PLEASE DO NOT LIE TO US ABOUT WHERE A DOG WAS ORIGINALLY FOUND….. The truth always comes out!

This dog was originally found between Smithville and Kearney, meaning his owners could be actively searching for him without ever thinking to check our shelter because we are over 35 minutes away from either location.

We cannot take in animals from outside our jurisdiction for this exact reason. It does not matter if you believe our shelter is better or that you have good intentions. We have procedures and jurisdictional boundaries that must be followed.
Lying on official documentation is illegal and unacceptable. It also creates confusion and can make it significantly harder for an owner to locate their missing pet.

At the end of the day, this is about doing what is right for the animal and giving their family the best possible chance of finding them. Please follow the proper procedures and provide accurate information when reporting a found animal. 🐾

Edit: He was rehomed from the original owner to a gentleman in Kearney

This little guy, possibly a Chihuahua mix, was found off Fayette here in NKC.
