California Adopt-a-Pet Day is tomorrow!

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for a Free Adoption Day. Adoption fees will be waived for this special event. No appointments are needed.

Please note that we will still be completing our normal screening process, and applications will be required prior to adopting from us. Our website is up to date with all available animals, so we encourage you to take a look before stopping by.

We’re hiring! The Newport Beach Animal Shelter is currently recruiting for Assistant Recreation Coordinator and Senior Recreation Leader positions assigned to the animal shelter.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with animals, is comfortable with hands-on shelter care, and wants to help support pets in our community. Responsibilities to support the daily care and operation of the shelter include cleaning kennels and equipment, feeding and interacting with animals, monitoring animal health and behavior, assisting with adoptions and customer service, working with volunteers and organizing supplies and donations.

We are looking for a volunteer to bottle feed a litter of four 4-week-old kittens for the next few weeks. They are still at an age where they need bottle feeding and will soon begin transitioning to kitten food. We will provide all necessary supplies, and as a foster, you will have the opportunity to name the kittens.

While you’re celebrating, don’t forget to keep your pets safe:

• Keep alcohol out of reach. Even small amounts can be dangerous for pets
• Watch the table scraps. Foods like chocolate, onions, and fatty meats can make pets sick
• Keep them secure. Open doors and busy gatherings can make it easy for pets to slip out
