🐾🚔 All Paws Reporting for Duty! 🚔🐾

We’re excited to announce that our department is in the process of welcoming two new K9s to the team!

These will not be your typical take-down or bite dogs. Instead, our newest four-legged officers will specialize in narcotics detection, serving as highly trained drug detection K9s that play a vital role in proactive policing and community safety.

Chief Swanson and Lieutenant Gotz met these impressive pups this week at Southern Coast K9, where they are currently undergoing training. Over the next several weeks, they’ll continue preparing for duty alongside their future handlers.

Our beloved station dog, Hunter, has not yet had the opportunity to meet the department’s newest recruits — but we’re sure that introduction will happen soon. 🐾

We are also in the selection process for two internal officers who will serve as K9 handlers and begin training soon. Selections are expected within the next few weeks.

This expansion of our K9 program is made possible in part thanks to grant funding from the Hunter Foundation, a valued local business partner. We are proud to partner with them and are incredibly grateful for their support in strengthening public safety in our community.

We look forward to introducing you to these new four-legged officers once training is complete.
