The purpose of our page is to help reunite pets with their owners and to educate the public about our role in the community, our policies, and general pet ownership. We recognize the fact that animals evoke deep emotions in many people, as they do us, but must ask that our posters refrain from judging others/posting negative comments when both sides of the situation are not known. In many cases, we will not comment on the situations regarding particular animals. We are bound by confidentiality, laws, and our own ethics, in which we do not judge (as we often don’t have all the facts, especially with lost pets) and cannot dictate how an owner cares for their animals. If you have a particular concern or question that requires immediate attention, we ask that you contact the shelter directly at (608) 325-9600 or visit our website at www.greencountyhumane.org. Our Facebook site is monitored by volunteers and, oftentimes, we cannot respond immediately.

There's a few spots left for this weekend's Paws & Poses: Pet & Family Photography Event! We're getting together with Captured By Emma Kate at Hawk's Mill Winery to get some beautiful fall pet family photos taken!

We'll be there on Saturday, October 24th from 10 AM - 1 PM. Sign up is taken care of virtually using the link below!

Pictures will be taken in 10 minute slots and cost $25 for 2 professionally edited pictures.

Make sure to sign up ASAP and secure your spot with a picturesque fall winery backdrop today!

Remy is looking for a forever family!

She is 2 years old, and is originally from Oklahoma! She knows how to "sit," gets along with other dogs and older kids.

She's got lots of energy and loves playing in water, running, going for car rides, and giving lots of cuddles. She's still learning, and sometimes needs to be reminded about manners from time to time.

*HOME-TO-HOME*

Sometimes we have people reach out in need of rehoming their pet. In an effort to keep animals out of the shelter, we offer our Home-to-Home option!

Frankie is almost 4 years old and weighs about 73 pounds. Purebred German Shepherd.

He is a very sensitive boy who can sometimes not control his emotions. He sometimes barks for no reason and we are working on that with him. He also can be very affectionate and as is typical of a GSD will follow me just about everywhere. We are also working through some leash reactivity, but he really only behaves that way when he's walking with me alone. When my husband walks him, or even just comes along with us, Frankie remains mostly calm.

He would be best placed in a home with either no other dogs or a female who is not super dominant. He likes to be a bit bossy, so another bossy male would be a bad fit. He would also be best suited with a family who has experience with dogs and especially with German Shepherds.

He is healthy and up to date with all of his vaccinations.
