Sometimes, the best reading buddy has four paws!

Reading aloud can feel intimidating for children, especially when they’re still building confidence in their skills. The Legacy Reading Dogs offer a patient, nonjudgmental audience where young readers can practice at their own pace, grow more comfortable reading aloud, and discover the joy of sharing a story.

Tonight, we’re bringing that special kind of encouragement to the LeClaire Library! Whether a child is a confident reader or just finding their voice, a therapy dog can make reading feel a little less stressful and a lot more fun.

🗓️ TONIGHT October 22 | 4–5 PM

We hope you'll be able to join us for this great event...Because sometimes, a little encouragement and a very good listener can make all the difference.

There’s something special about the way a dog can make the world feel a little better.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as sitting in the grass, sharing a little affection, and taking a moment to slow down. No big gestures or special words needed. Just a gentle presence and a little time together.

The Legacy Therapy Dogs (and their amazing handlers) create these moments every day, offering comfort, bringing joy, and reminding us that even the simplest interactions can make a meaningful difference.

Because sometimes, a few minutes with a dog can mean more than words can say.

Does your dog suddenly forget their name when there's something exciting to sniff, see, or investigate? You're not alone!

Learning to listen and respond around distractions takes practice, and training gives you and your dog the opportunity to build those skills together.

Our next Basic Training class starts October 27th!

There are so many ways therapy dogs can make a difference, and we're proud to be part of that journey.

Facility dogs like Elle become a familiar and comforting presence in the places they work, building connections with the people they see every day.

These placements come with a special responsibility. Facility dogs become part of the environments they work in, and the people around them rely on them to be well-prepared for that role. That's why, at Legacy, we hold our therapy dogs to high standards and our facility dogs to even higher ones.

And our support doesn't stop once a facility dog begins working! We're happy to support our members by arranging additional visits for introductions, special occasions, or times when a little extra comfort and connection would be meaningful.

We're so proud of Elle and the difference she makes everyday, and grateful to support our members as they find meaningful ways to serve our communities.

Could a therapy dog visit make a difference at your workplace or facility? We'd love to hear from you!

Mental health support can look different for everyone.

Sometimes, it looks like having someone to talk to. Sometimes, it looks like taking a moment to breathe. And sometimes, it looks like sitting beside a therapy dog and feeling a little less alone.

We were proud to join the NAMI Walk in support of mental health awareness and the reminder that no one should have to navigate their mental health journey alone.

Therapy dogs can offer comfort, create opportunities for connection, and bring moments of calm during difficult days. Their presence can make it a little easier to pause, open up, and feel supported without the pressure to find the right words.

At Legacy Therapy Dogs, we believe small moments of comfort can make a meaningful difference, and everyone deserves to feel supported.

You never know how much a little kindness, a listening ear, or a few minutes with a therapy dog might mean to someone.

Let’s keep showing up for mental health, for one another, and for the moments that remind us we’re not alone.

Mental health is an important part of our overall well-being, and therapy dogs can play a meaningful role in supporting it.

A therapy dog doesn't need to know what's weighing on someone's mind to offer comfort. Sometimes, a little companionship, a few gentle pets, and a moment to relax can make a difference.

We're grateful for our Legacy Therapy Dogs like Pepper who help bring a little comfort and happiness to the people they meet.

Two events, one wonderful Saturday with the Legacy Therapy Dogs!

Tomorrow, October 10th, we're heading out into the community for two special events, bringing along our therapy dogs to offer comfort, brighten someone's day, and remind people just how much a little time with a dog can mean.

💙 NAMI Walk
📍 Veterans Memorial Park, Bettendorf
🕣 8:30

Mental health matters, and sometimes the simplest moments can make a difference. A chance to pet a dog, take a breath, and enjoy a little unconditional affection can offer a welcome moment of calm during a busy or difficult day. We're proud to join the NAMI Walk in support of mental health awareness and to share the comfort our therapy dogs can bring.

----------------------------------------------

🍂 Harvest Fest
📍 River Valley District Library, Port Byron
🕚 11 AM–1 PM

Community celebrations are about more than the activities. They're also opportunities to connect, make memories, and enjoy the little things. The Legacy therapy dogs will be there to share some extra smiles and snuggles while helping families learn more about our therapy dogs and the difference they can make in our community.

Whether you need a moment to unwind, could use a little extra happiness, or simply love meeting dogs, we'd love for you to stop by one (or both) of these amazing events! You just never know how much a few minutes with a therapy dog might brighten your day.
