Dog Name: Rue

Breed: Mixed

S*x: Female

Age: 9-10wks

Weight: 8lbs

Medical Needs: Will need remainder of puppy shots. Will need the rabies vaccine once old enough.

Needs to be spayed by 6 months. Adopters will contact Grass Roots Rescue at around 5 months to schedule this appointment with one of the clinics we work with in the state of Delaware.

Keeping the appointment is a condition of adoption. Adopters must live within 1 hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment.

Important Information About Puppies:
Rue is 100% puppy. Friendly, snuggly, and very playful. Perfect for an energetic household. She is very good with going potty outside. The crate is not her favorite place to be however after a few minutes of some whining she settles right down. The leash is very much a toy to her so leash training will be will be a necessity.

✨ Puppies need to be let out for potty breaks approximately every 4 hours. If there isn't someone home during the day, then you will need a plan to make sure they get a mid-day break.

✨ Puppies are blank slates and require training, including housebreaking. Adopters need to be prepared to provide this training along with appropriate socialization to help give them the best chance at becoming well-behaved and happy grown dogs.

✨ Puppies should always be supervised when interacting with children and other animals. Puppies are fragile and a mishap could be fatal for them. They are also teething and getting to know their world, and boundaries, with their mouth. They have to be taught what appropriate chew toys are.

We are not the ones that set the spay/neuter age requirements for state, we just have to abide by them. You can take your grievances about that elsewhere…please and thank you.

Dog Name: Bear Bryant

Breed: mixed

S*x: male

Age: 4 years

Weight: ~50 pounds

Medical Needs: None.

Housebroken: Yes, as long as he sticks to a schedule.

Crate trained: Yes. He sleeps in his crate all night and while we are gone with no issues.

Good in the car: He loves car rides. As long as he's tied down, he will lay right down and take a nap or stare out the window.

Good on a leash: He walks great on a leash as long as he has a prong collar on.

Energy level: Medium-high.

Need a fenced-in yard: No. Bear actually cannot have a fenced-in yard. We will explain more below.

Dog Friendly: Yes. He LOVES other dogs.

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home?
While he would love a bestie to live with, it's not a must.

Cat Friendly? He tries to chase our outside cat to play with her.

Kid Friendly: He LOVES kids but doesn't know his strength and will love on them at times too much.

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with?
Bear can get excited at times and use the house as a track to run. Kids should be steady on their feet and able to give Bear space when he needs to get his zoomies out.

Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?

Bear has never met a stranger a day in his life. To him, strangers are just best friends he hasn't met yet. Bear is a big, goofy toddler that doesn't know he's not a puppy and nothing you say will convince him otherwise. He has a ton of love to give and will keep you laughing with how goofy he is. Outside is where Bear loves to spend most of his time running zoomies, chasing toys, rolling in the grass, and going for walks. (He will never turn down a walk.) But you can also catch him curled up next to you on the couch for an afternoon nap when he comes back inside.

Bear CANNOT have a fenced-in yard or at least cannot be off leash in a fenced-in yard or area. Bear is a mastermind when it comes to climbing fences. At the shelter, he was known to climb any and all the fences they tried to contain him in. The staff said no fence no matter the material or height could contain him. He would climb them all and be over them in seconds. To keep Bear safe, he would need to still be leashed or on a longer tie out where he couldn't get to the fence but had room to run if you did have a fenced-in yard. It is super important this rule is followed to keep Bear safe. If this is not something you can follow, Bear is not the dog for you. We will not risk Bear getting lost or injured.
