We hit the jackpot with BRINKLEY. He is such a doll. Just rescued from a shelter is North Carolina. He is now in a wonderful foster home in North Carolina, but we can transport him along the East Coast to a forever home. BRINKLEY is 4 years old, 28 pounds, vaccinated, and neutered. He gets along great with other dogs. Cats unknown. He is playful, inquisitive, sweet, affectionate, and gentle. And oh so handsome. Beautiful brown eyes with that "eyeliner" look. Tonight during our open hours (5:00 to 7:00 pm) we have a special visitor - Meet Sammy! 🐶🐾

Sammy is a lovable Lab/Shepherd mix who's five years old and tipping the scales at a solid 80 pounds of pure joy! This friendly and energetic boy has had quite the journey, arriving at Misty Eyes from an overcrowded shelter alongside his siblings.

Although he was adopted as a puppy, life threw a curveball, and he found himself back in the care of our dedicated team-through no fault of his own! Now, in his foster home, Sammy is wagging his tail with delight as he polishes up his house manners, proving that practice makes paw-fect! Sammy adores going on walks and spending quality time with his foster family, ready to bring boundless happiness to a forever home.

Although he is fine with most people, Sammy doesn't appreciate other animals, so will need to be the only pet in the home. He would be a great fit for a country home with property where he can expend his energy. KITTEN ADOPTION SPECIAL.......

Our beautiful and precious kittens are now living like princes and princesses compared to the lives they had before we rescued them living in a garage on the streets of Philadelphia. Two months ago they were fighting for their lives. But with the amazing help of an experienced trapper, we were able to get them off the streets, vetted, and into the comfort of her foster home where they have been getting tons of love, attention, and socialization. Due to her dedication and tireless work with them, they are now ready for their forever homes. They are gentle and affectionate and love being indoors. They are very bonded to each other, as you can see by the "pile of kittens" pic. So we want to adopt them out in pairs.

RAY - Orange. Male. 4 months. 4 pounds. Neutered. Vaccinated. Micro chipped. Probably the most social.

GLOW - Grey and white with brown nose. Female. 3 months. 3.5 pounds. Spayed. Micro chipped. A bit shy.

SHINE - Grey and white with pink nose. Male. 5 months. 4-5 pounds. Neutered. A bit shy. Not micro chipped.

GLIMMER - Tuxedo. Female. 3 months. 3.7 pounds. Spayed. Micro chipped.

Pairing them will be enormously helpful to them as they have known each other since they were born, struggling to survive. But they are thriving now and ready for the next chapter of their lives.

Who can open their homes and hearts to a pair of these precious souls? The fee would only be $150 for the pair. You might be able to get a kitten or cat at a shelter, but the value of these kittens is that they are fully vetted and well socialized, having lived in a loving home for the last 2 months. They recently attended one of our fundraisers and allowed complete strangers to pet and hold them. A couple even purred! Each would need some time to acclimate to a new home, but having a familiar kitten will certainly help.

Re*****on wound up in the shelter when his owners health wouldn’t allow him to care for him any longer.

He’s 6 years old and weighs 68 lbs We think he’s labradoodle and Irish terrier mix.

Re*****on is great with people and other dogs!

Re*****on is housebroken and is not destructive or a chewer so he can be left out unsupervised without issues.

He likes to go out in the yard and play ball or fetch but then he happily calms down in the house and likes to chill on his.

He can initially be excited when meeting other dogs but then he settles down. He is in a foster home with two other male doodle mixes and does great with them.

Re*****on has an awesome personality and would make a loving and loyal family member to a lucky family.

He’s housebroken and crate trained and loves to go for walks!

Simba is not her neuter but if we find a foster we can arrange for his neuter .

🎃 Trick or Treat? Tater Is 100% TREAT! 🦇

Tater went to a fall market surrounded by pumpkins and mums… and turned it into a full-blown Halloween photo shoot. Three costumes. Zero shame. Maximum handsome. (We still suspect he has his own publicist.) 👻

Presenting… The Many Costumes of Tater:
• 🏴‍☠️ Captain Tater the Pirate – Arrr you looking for a loyal first mate? The only treasure this pup is hunting for is a forever home.
• 🐝 Tater the Bumblebee – The sweetest bee in the pumpkin patch. All buzz, no sting, and totally bee-autiful.
• 🦇 Tater the Bat – Very cool wings. Very cool dog. Fangs for noticing!

And yes… Tater is STILL looking for his forever home. That's the scariest thing we've heard all season! 😱

But here's the not-so-spooky truth: under every costume is a truly amazing 2-year-old pittie mix who is handsome, silly, affectionate, and wonderfully well-mannered. Tater is fully vetted, housebroken, crate trained, and professionally trained — and he is very proud of himself for being such a good boy (as he should be). 🍬
He has main-character energy in the best possible way. He loves people, enjoys getting out and about, and has the kind of sweet, steady personality that makes folks stop and say, "Wait… is he a therapy dog?" We have a wonderful video of Tater visiting a senior living facility, where he was so calm, gentle, and lovely you'd think he'd been doing therapy work his whole life. We'll share it in the comments so you can see this special boy in action! 🎥

💔 MISTY NEEDS A HOME IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS 💔

In less than two weeks, Misty will lose the home she knows. Her owner loves her, but has to move where she can't bring her dog. Now this sweet girl’s future is uncertain, and we are hoping our Facebook friends can help.

Misty is a 3-year-old, medium-sized Hound/Yellow Lab mix. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccines.

Misty has had very little socialization throughout her young life, and we’re told she was abused by a previous owner. She is a very sweet girl, but meeting unfamiliar people makes her nervous. She needs someone patient and gentle who will give her time to feel comfortable and secure.

She deserves the chance to feel safe, loved, and understood. ❤️

Here is the kind of home we are hoping to find for Misty:

🐾 A home where she can be the only pet. Misty becomes jealous of other dogs and would do best with a family whose attention she doesn’t have to share with other animals.

🐾 Someone who is home often. She appears to struggle with separation anxiety and would benefit from having her person around much of the day.

🐾 Patient, understanding people who will let her settle in at her own pace.

And one especially sweet thing about Misty: we’re told she loves children! 💛

At True Friends, our space is limited, and a shelter transition could be especially overwhelming for a dog who already finds unfamiliar people and situations frightening. We are hoping to help Misty move directly from her current home into another loving home before her owner has to leave.

We have less than two weeks to help change her future.
