The Maynard Dog Park is at a crossroads.

We need to be completely honest with our dog park community: if we do not get additional volunteers, especially people willing to step into leadership roles, the park will close.

While we are grateful to the few people who have recently signed up for trash duty, the reality is that the burden of operating this park has fallen on a very small group of volunteers for far too long.

Most of the current board members have served for several years, and many no longer even use the dog park themselves. They have continued volunteering because they care deeply about keeping this space open for the community. But the time has come for new people to step forward.

This park cannot survive without:
• Volunteers for ongoing maintenance and trash duty (sign up here)
• New board members and leadership
• People willing to help organize cleanup and fundraising efforts, and keep operations moving forward

If there is not meaningful interest from the community in helping lead and support the park, we will begin the process of closing it on July 1.

This is not something we want to do. But a volunteer-run dog park cannot exist without volunteers.

We could really use a few helping hands at the dog park 🐾

Trash duty might not be glamorous, but it’s one of the simplest ways to keep this place running for everyone who loves it. And the best part? It only takes about 15 minutes.

If you’ve got a few minutes to spare, here’s what you’d do:

• Empty the four trash barrels
• Add fresh liners (we’ve got them ready for you)
• Tie up the bags and place them in the bin with a town sticker
• Roll the bin to the curb over the weekend for Monday pickup
• Refill the waste bag stations

We supply everything—gloves, bags, stickers—so you can jump right in.

Due to the amount of snow predicted with the incoming snowstorm, the Maynard Dog Park will be closed until further notice.

Let us repeat for those in the back...the Maynard Dog Park will be closed until further notice.

Our license with the Town of Maynard requires the park to be closed when snowfall reaches 3 inches or more.

For everyone’s safety --- two-legged and four-legged alike --- we kindly ask that you please respect the closure and refrain from using the park during this time.

We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as conditions improve and it’s safe to reopen. Thank you for your understanding, and stay warm out there! 🐾❄️

Our license with the Town of Maynard requires the park to be closed when snowfall reaches 3 inches or more.

We're looking for volunteers to help with trash duty at the dog park.

If you love this park, now is the time to step up. Just one 10-minute shift can make a huge difference.

Here’s what’s involved:
