Meet beautiful Diamond! Sadly, she was surrendered to the shelter on 5/28 because her family is moving and could not take her along. Her former family did note that Diamond is house-trained, good with children, and good with other dogs! The volunteers remember Diamond from when she was just a puppy before she was adopted, so it’s especially heartbreaking to see her back at the shelter. Diamond is a loving, playful, curious, and intelligent girl who is ready to find a forever family to love her for life. She already knows several commands, including sit, down, and stay, and she enjoys learning and spending time with her people. If you’re looking for a fun companion to join you on walks, adventures, and cozy time at home, Diamond would love to be your new best friend!

Diamond is approximately 11 months old, and weighs 47 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, has been spayed and microchipped, and did test negative for heartworms. Please come meet Diamond in kennel 48; her ID # is 16559.

Minnie is a precious 1 year old, 33 lb. chihuahua terrier mix that was unfortunately surrendered to the shelter at no fault of her own. She thought she had her forever home but a small human in the family had allergies so she had to go. She's super smart and eager to please, sits when asked and walks nicely on the leash. She's up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. She's also great with other dogs and children! Come meet this sweet baby in kennel 314, her ID is 16662.

This lovely lady is Chelsea! She arrived at the shelter as a lost dog on 4/9, and sadly, no one has come to reclaim her. The volunteers describe Chelsea as friendly, though initially shy. Give her a little time to come around, and you'll have a new BFF in no time! She responds to several commands such as sit and stay, and she walks great on leash.

Chelsea is approximately 3 years old, and weighs 40 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, and did test negative for heartworms. She is spayed and will be microchipped upon adoption. Please come meet Chelsea in kennel 829; her ID # is 18121.

Meet Mel, a one-year-and-four-month-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix who arrived at Cobb Animal Services on May 6th. She is a striking black and white girl with a beautiful white blaze across her face, a broad chest, and warm brown eyes that look right at you. At 61 pounds and nearly at her adult size, Mel is estimated to stay right around 60 to 65 pounds.

Mel is a nice girl who knows what she wants she has already mastered sit, and with someone who makes training engaging and rewarding, she will keep right on learning. She will thrive with an adopter who turns every lesson into quality time together.

Mel's journey to get here was not a simple one. She was rehomed by her owner and ended up at a shelter in Spalding County. Her former owner was contacted and actually flew to Georgia to retrieve her but rather than taking her home, brought her here and left no information and no path forward for her. Through no fault of her own, Mel found herself here, starting over and waiting for the home she deserves.

Mel is ready for someone who will see her for what she is a good girl who just needs the right person to stick around. She has so much to give, and all she is asking for is a chance. If you are looking for a loyal, beautiful companion to grow with, Mel might just be exactly who you have been looking for.

Forrest – ID #18616 – Kennel #46
Arrived April 29th as a stray – German Shepherd/Akita Mix – Tan & Black – Male – 10 years old – 81 lbs – Up to date on vaccines – Heartworm negative

Meet Forrest — a magnificent and deeply soulful tan and black German Shepherd and Akita mix with the warmest amber eyes and a gentle, dignified presence that is simply impossible not to fall in love with. This sweet old soul was found as a stray on April 29th with no one to come forward for him, and at 10 years old this extraordinary boy now waits in Kennel #46 for someone to give him the warm and loving home he so deeply deserves.

Forrest knows sit, stay, down, and shake — four commands that speak volumes about the love and time someone once invested in him. He clearly had a person who cared for him deeply, and yet here he is, alone and waiting. That loyalty and training he carries with him every single day is a testament to the incredible dog he is and has always been, and he deserves a family who will honor that.

At 10 years old Forrest is a senior gentleman who has lived a whole lifetime of quiet devotion, and every single remaining day of his golden years deserves to be spent in a soft and peaceful home with someone who will cherish every moment with him. He is heartworm negative and up to date on all of his vaccines — and due to his age he will not be neutered prior to adoption, meaning he is ready to go home right away to the person who chooses him.

Senior dogs like Forrest are the most heartbreakingly overlooked animals in shelters, and yet those who open their hearts to a senior will tell you it is one of the most profoundly meaningful and deeply rewarding experiences of their lives. If you have room in your heart and your home for this magnificent old soul, please come meet Forrest in Kennel #46. He has so much love and dignity still to give — all he needs is someone to give him the chance to give it.

This girl with the beautiful smile is Kyla! She arrived at the shelter as a lost dog with ID on 3/1, and sadly, her people never came to reclaim her. It appears as though she recently weaned some pups, but she's now taken the "no more puppies" pledge so that she can live her best life! The volunteers describe her as friendly, though initially shy. The loud, overwhelming shelter can be a lot for some dogs, so we imagine once in a loving home she'll open up and relax. Kyla looks forward to her daily walks at the shelter where she can get some fresh air and love from the volunteers. She is such a pretty dog, and she does know how to sit nicely when asked. If you have a soft spot for the shy kids, please come to the shelter and ask to meet Kyla!

Kyla is approximately 5 years old, and weighs 46 lbs. She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, has been microchipped, and did test negative for heartworms. Kyla is waiting patiently in kennel 57; her ID # is 17291.
