Hello everyone. My name is Skittles. I was found hanging out in someone’s backyard and they took me in and cared for me until space opened up at GM. Because I didn’t grow up around humans, I am very nervous around them. I am only nine months old, but if we don’t interact with humans early on, it takes us longer to learn to trust them. I am getting better though! I know everyone loves me and is being very patient with me, but it’s going to take some time. It will probably be a while before I approach anyone for attention, but if you see me in a cat tree, feel free to slowly approach me and ask for pets. Just stick your hand out, let me sniff, then I will let you pet me on my head. I don’t like to be approached from behind, but if you come to me from the front and gently scratch the top of my head, I really do like it. So I am looking for a patient family, willing to work with me and give me time to adjust. And someone that will really commit to me and love me for who I am. I know in time I will be a loving companion, I just need someone to give me a chance.
Since I am so shy and insecure, I would really benefit from having a friendly feline friend or two. In my rescuer’s home, there were a few cats and I enjoyed their company. So I think I would learn to trust quicker if there were other confident kitties in the home.

Greetings! Patriot here, Good Mews’ Mayor and Sheriff. With summer approaching, I am very excited about all the patriotic holidays that are coming up. Did you know that I’m also a part of the Kitty Keeper Program? You should become a Kitty Keeper! Every quarter you get a letter from me or one of the other Kitty Keeper kitties (you decide who you want to hear from) with an update on shelter shenanigans and important info. During the week, 5 kitties went home- Eeny, Ivy, and Olivia (all together!), Ginger, and Moe. Today 4 kitties went home -Arwen, Miney, Oompa Loompa, and Svetlana! 🎉

Hello, friends! My name is Arwen. And yes, I am calling you friend, because everyone I meet, I instantly consider them a friend. I know I haven’t met you, but since you follow and support GM, you are my friend! I transferred to GM from the county animal services and I am so grateful. Who knows what would have happened to me if they had not rescued me. I was at the shelter for a bit but I wasn’t a fan of the other cats so I went to foster care. I’m really enjoying all the love and attention I receive. I am a super social cat so having humans around me everyday is a dream. I am a happy girl that is always purring and making biscuits. I love to be around humans and am always up for a good conversation. We can gossip or talk about their favorite TV shows or books. Or if someone just needs to vent, I am all ears! And I’m happy to offer my advice.
I enjoy playing with wand toys, but honestly, my favorite activity is curling up on my human for snuggle time. So not only am I very friendly and outgoing, I am also super affectionate.
So now I just need to find my human. Like I mentioned, I am not a big fan of other cats, so I would really love to be a single pet in my new home. That way I can have all the love and attention for myself! And who needs another kitty when you have me?? I just know I will make the best companion for someone. This June, Good Mews is taking on our biggest challenge yet: helping 100 KITTENS get the care they need before finding forever homes!

But to do this, we’re going to need additional foster families to support us.

Hello everyone! We’re Mazzy and Persephone. We came to GM two months ago in hopes of finding our forever home. So far, no luck. When the vote went out for the June Featured Cat, ALL the kitties voted for us! I guess they are keeping an eye on what’s going on in the kitten room, and they are seeing little ones enter and then leave. But they haven’t seen us leave so I guess they feel sorry for us. Which is nice of them, but kind of bums us out. We are also seeing the little ones leave with new families and it hurts our feelings that nobody wants us. We know we are shy and we really can’t compete with them. We aren’t running all over the place, playing, jumping in laps, and curling up in the human’s arms for a nap. We do enjoy being petted, but we prefer it to happen when it is quiet in the shelter. On the weekends it’s pretty busy with lots of people in the kitten room, so our sweet personalities really don’t have the chance to shine. But maybe being the featured cats will help. We just need a patient family that will give us time to adjust to a new home. We think a quiet home would be best for us. In our previous temp home, there were other kitties and we got along great with them. So we would do well in a multi-pet home. Or just the two of us would be nice too. We are now 10 months old and we are getting nervous we will have to leave the kitten room soon. So hopefully someone will want to give us a chance.
