Running a rescue is emotionally exhausting some days.
Today we received a 1-star review because a rescue puppy grew bigger than the estimated adult weight. The puppy is healthy, loved, thriving, but apparently becoming 25 pounds instead of 11 pounds deserved a public attack on our rescue. This is our first review because of a puppys size.
Rescue puppies are not custom-built products. They are not genetically engineered. Many come from unknown backgrounds, mixed breeds, neglect situations, strays, or shelters with little to no history. Weight estimates are exactly that, estimates.
A review like that may seem small to some people, but for rescues it can hurt adoptions, donations, reputation, and ultimately the animals depending on us to survive.
So today, we would love to hear from the people who HAVE had positive experiences with us. ❤️
If we helped you find your best friend… If we answered late-night messages… If we stayed up bottle feeding puppies… If we helped save a medical case… If your rescue animal changed your life… If we’ve ever gone above and beyond for your family or your pets…

🚨 STORE & RESCUE POLICY NOTICE 🚨
With Spring Fling Carnival weekend here again, we want to remind everyone of an important policy for both Wholesome Petz and Ricky’s Rascals Animal Rescue NFP.
Anyone 17 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult while inside the store or rescue this weekend
This policy was put into place after repeated issues in prior years, including:
• Children running through aisles resulting in a child falling and getting injured
• Damage to merchandise and rescue supplies
• Animals becoming stressed from excessive noise and chaos
• Vandalism, including inappropriate writing on our walls
For the safety of our rescue animals, customers, staff, volunteers, and the children themselves, this policy will be strictly enforced. We truly appreciate the many respectful kids who visit us, love the animals, and behave appropriately. 💛 Unfortunately, we were advised that we cannot enforce the rule for only some individuals, so it must apply equally to everyone.
If a minor enters without an adult present, this weekend, they will be asked to leave and return with a parent or guardian.
Thank you for understanding and helping us maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment for both people and animals. 🐾

Look at how HAPPY this sweet girl is. 🥹❤️
After everything she has been through, she is finally safe and heading to rescue with her babies.
Momma(golden retriever), daddy(black lab), and their 12 puppies were found dumped in a rural area down south. Thankfully, someone stepped in before it was too late. 💔🐾
Dad is unfortunately still on hold after biting an animal control officer, so he cannot come just yet, but we plan to bring him up when momma is cleared after her spay. His bite hold will be cleared around the same time.
Momma and the puppies have officially completed quarantine and are now getting ready for their next chapter. Momma is scheduled to be spayed next week, and then she can finally focus on just being loved and spoiled like she deserves. ❤️
The puppies are 9 weeks old and absolutely adorable. Most are black like dad, but they have incredibly soft fluffy fur just like momma. We will post pics when we get back today after baths, nails, etc.
These babies have already received:

✔️ Vet checked TWICE
✔️ Flea & tick preventative
✔️ Bordatella
✔️ Lots of love and care

These sweet babies were found dumped in a rural area down south with their momma and daddy, left with no safety, shelter, or anyone looking out for them. Thankfully, they are now safe and finally getting the care and love they deserve.
Their momma has been absolutely incredible. Through everything, she cared for all 12 of her babies and somehow kept every single one healthy, fed, and thriving. Seeing how well she protected and loved them despite their situation is truly amazing. ❤️🐾
Momma is scheduled to be spayed next week so she never has to go through this again. Daddy is unfortunately currently on a bite hold, but his release is also expected next week.
These puppies are playful, loving, and so ready to begin their new lives. Rescue changes lives, but mommas like this remind us just how strong and devoted animals truly are.
Plus come visit with the other pups looking for homes. This Sunday our kittens turn 8 weeks and are looking for homes also.
