Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan We are a 100% NO-KILL animal shelter & rescue dedicated to saving lives in Michigan, Texas and Ohio.

Founded in 1982, the Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan (“AWS”) is a 100% NO-KILL animal rescue and shelter. The animals stay with us until they find a good home, no matter how long that takes. We rescue animals from high-kill shelters in Michigan, Ohio and Texas. Animals are loved and cared for by our amazing staff and volunteers. They receive all necessary vet care, no matter what t

he cost. 100% of all donations go directly toward the care of the animals in our shelter. AWS strives to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering, along with proper vet care for your pet. AWS offers a food pantry to low income pet owners who can no longer afford to feed their pets. AWS also offers dog training at our facility, and adopters receive a 20%
discount when you sign up for class.

2. They are very gentle dogs who love to cuddle, sleep under your covers, and be by your side for life.

5. They love to play and can be energetic; however, they do not need a lot of exercise or long walks like larger dogs do.

AFFORDABLE DOG TRAINING IS NOW AVAILABLE!!!
Kris Littleson has been a dog trainer at our facility for over 16 years. She has a great deal of experience working with rescue dogs. PUPPY AND BASIC ADULT TRAINING CLASS STARTS ON THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 2026 AT 7:00 PM. Classes are conveniently held at the AWS shelter. If you adopted your dog or puppy from us, you will receive a 30% DISCOUNT on classes. Kris offers a variety of classes from puppy, obedience, canine good citizen to agility training. She also has a substantial background in disc and fly ball. Kris is also part of the Rock n Roll K-9s group.
