Monday June 8th join me for my new live masterclass šŸŽ‰

Finesse with Jess- corrective grooming on a Flooooofy Face. (That’s the whole title of the class)

I’ll be grooming a choppy overgrown shmoop and turning her into a cozy bear. It’ll be fun.

Sign up in my bio, you gorgeous beast.

The most difficult part of grooming is when I have to break my own heart because those tiny Shmoops have to leave...

Fritz has changed me. Some say for the better, I say for eternity.

Can you relate to this: I feel like I’m battling between two inner selves: the divine Self (the real me) who knows Shmoop will be a hit, and the inner critic who tells me it will flop.

My higher self sounds like this ā€œThis is going to change the grooming industry, no one has ever made a beautiful dog grooming brush, no groomer has ever formulated products just like this from start to finish. People deserve a dog beauty brand that’s made by someone who actually knows how to groom dogs. Who has been in every skin and coat type.ā€ (I love vets, I love influencers, I love human beauty brands, but none of them know how to groom dogs, yet they make grooming products… )

My critic says ā€œthis could be the biggest most expensive mistake you’ve ever made, you are gambling your life savings away.ā€

Thankfully the critic voice comes out rarely…. When I’ve had a hard day.

I think we all have these two voices. And some days one voice is louder than the other, and I try not to let my critic convince me she’s right, cause she’s not.

I’m not stopping now, I’m not giving up, and I’m going to keep trucking along til she’s heeeeeere.

By the way, I have a waitlist sign up on the website if you want to be the first to be notified when it launches (but also trust me I’ll be posting about it a ton).

Onwards!

Happy Burroughs Dayyyyyyyy.

It’s finally out on . šŸŽ‰

It’s such an amazing show. I can’t wait for the world to see baby as another not so good guy šŸ‘€. He’s a teddy bear in real life, but is really good at playing questionable characters. I love this show so much I feel like I was in it too.

Lot’s going on with .shmoop , I will keep you posted. The response to my brush video gave me so much joy and hope and I am so excited that people are just as excited as meeeeee about the Love Brush.

No body tells you that when you start a product business, you have to wait and wait and wait… for other people, for things to be ready, samples.. etc. I feel like I’ve spent most of these years in development waitingggg.

And I’m a little kid inside, so I hate waiting.

Anywhoooooozieeeees, I’ll obv keep you posted and hopefully we all won’t have to wait much longer 😬

To a bee, she’s a monster. But to me, she’s a tiny.

Story timeeee….

This one conversation changed my life.

All grooming brushes look the same. They’re all made by the same manufacturers, and they are all some variation of the same thing: square and functional, but not beautiful.

I’ve wanted to make a heart shaped brush for yeeeears. Something beautiful that people would want to display. It seemed impossible, because every time I tried to make it happen, it was.

I asked brush companies I loved if it was possible, I got people that straight up said no. One of them made a weird prototype where just the top was a heart… but the brush was still square. šŸ« šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø They also told me it would cost $100,000.

So I left it alone.

Then at SuperZoo, I ran into grooming icon Jodi Murphy. She’d just invented the Coat Tender de-shedder, and I asked her how did you actually make this thing? Like how do you take an idea and make it an actual thing? And this is the conversation that changed everything.

She said she went to a craft store, bought molding clay, sculpted her idea, and took it to an engineer.

That’s it. That was the moment a lightbulb went off for me. It’s so simple but I was like holy cannoli, I’m gonna go do that.

I sculpted the Love Brush with my own hands (yes I made a time lapse video of it, stay tuned), found a 3D printer, created a CAD drawing (I had to learn what that was). I found a manufacturer in CA and tried to have it made there but just to get a mold made and a single sample was like $20,000.

How are small businesses supposed to do that?

So I went overseas. Found the right partner which took months and a biiiig gamble cause I had no idea if they could really do it…. But after months and months of development, they brought this little heart to life.

I wanted to create a beautiful dog grooming brush inspired by 60s costume jewelry.
This brush didn't exist until I made it exist. šŸ–¤
