The City By the Sea has welcomed Posh Pets Rescue as the new operator of the shelter, located at 770 Park Place, Long Beach NY 11561. Posh Pets of Long Beach will continue to serve the city’s needs with taking in Long Beach animals. The city has been dedicated to hosting a “no-kill” shelter, and we will continue that mission wholeheartedly. We are an all-breed, all-age, all-medical condition rescu

e and believe that every animal deserves a second chance at finding a happy and loving forever home. As a New York based rescue, we at Posh Pets believe in helping in our own backyard. In addition to the dogs and cats of Long Beach, we will continue helping the animals of NYC's municipal shelters as well. We will maintain our partnerships with the Mayors Alliance for NYC’s Animals and Petco and continue holding off-site adoption events in NYC, Long Island and Westchester. We are thrilled with how many dedicated volunteers are active at the shelter and of course would welcome even more! As a non-profit rescue group, we are only able to save so many lives thanks to the help of others. By taking on more animals, we are in need of fosters homes and funding, now more than ever! 🐾 Meet Max – Need a Foster Home or Foster to Adopt! 🐾
Hi, my name is Max, and I'm a sweet, gentle 3-year-old boy weighing ONLY 36 pounds. ❤️
I'm a very calm, easygoing dog who is currently going through heartworm treatment. Heartworm is caused by the bite of an infected mosquito—it is NOT contagious to people or other dogs.
For the next three months, I'll will need to see the rescues vet once a month for treatment . My rescue says I've been an absolute gentleman through it all and that I'm one of the easiest dogs to care for. and good with other dogs
What I'd really love is to recover in a quiet foster home instead of staying at the shelter. In long Ilsand as that is where my vet is.
If you've been thinking about fostering and would enjoy the company of a sweet, affectionate, calm dog, I could really use your help.

Posh Pets Rescue is excited to announce our second Free Spay and Neuter clinic for Nassau County residents experiencing financial hardship. Our clinic will be held by appointment only on May 2, 2026.

Please note: Proof of Nassau residency is required, along with documentation of financial need (such as government assistance, Social Security, unemployment, or disability).

At this time, we can only accommodate dogs and cats between 8 weeks and 6 years of age.

We will be announcing additional clinic dates in the coming weeks.
