AUGUST 29th LIBERTY CLINIC - Announcements

We can’t wait to host Janet Presnell for our upcoming Liberty Clinic.

A few reminders for those attending and for our participants:

🥪Be sure to pack a lunch! Waters will be available in a cooler for everyone, but lunch is not provided.
🪑Bring chairs! We have limited seating available, so we want to ensure everyone has a chair if we run out.
💵Auditing for those planning to watch is $20 per person due upon arrival.
⏱️Clinic begins at 9am with gates opening at 8:15am. Due to ongoing construction we may be using a different driveway entrance to keep access easy. The updated entrance address will be posted at least 24 hours prior to the clinic. There will be no construction during the clinic.
☀️Stay tuned for updates regarding weather as the clinic date approaches. We will plan to continue rain or shine.

All participants should’ve received a message including items to bring. All spots are filled and deposits/up-to-date Coggins certificates have been received! We will be sending out the trailer entrance address shortly.

As of today, Willow has officially become a permanent member of God Given Farm! She is such a valuable member of our herd, has become my personal mares’ best friend, and is so sweet, intelligent, and sensitive. Knowing her history with everything she’s been through I knew she deserved a forever home with someone who can be patient and help her as she continues to grow and recover mentally, and I am more than happy to provide that for her! We’ll keep working under saddle and driving and see what the future holds for her here!

It’s been a busy month here at the farm! Only two weeks left of our Apprenticeship Program. Over the last few sessions we’ve learned how to introduce trailer loading to green horses and horses with previous loading issues while keeping it safe and simple, introduced obstacles and discussed how they assist our horse, worked with a needle shy horse to help make pulling Coggins a positive experience, demonstrated how to get a hot horse to regulate, a dull horse to become responsive, and a million more things! This group has been a blast, the horses have been incredible, and it’s been a great way to wrap up a busy summer.

While we’ll be taking a step back on lessons and training, we’re excited to host Janet Presnell for a Liberty Clinic August 29th. Spots have filled up with only one left, and be sure to audit.

Blossom is prepping for her first off-property adventure and the upcoming Spring show season, as well as a 3 day intensive Liberty Clinic with David Lichman at another local farm.

I can’t wait for our upcoming adventures and more time to watch Willow, Journey, and Blossom grow!

Willow’s first attempt at trailer loading since joining our training program! Upon picking her up at the rescue initially she was hesitant to load and threw a few small kicks, requiring multiple people to get her on. She did wonderfully in our first trailer loading session though! I couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect! More details and updates on our farm will be shared tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Happy 4th of July!🎆

A few reminders during this hot weather and to help you get through fireworks with horses safely!

Know how to calculate heat index and remember horses overheat faster than we do. Limit workouts and provide access to shade and fresh water, and hose your horse down with cool water if they’re showing signs of heat stress. A body temperature above 101.5°F in an adult horse is a fever and needs immediate attention. Blossom has been enjoying being part of our barn aisle lessons and the Apprenticeship Program as we stay cool this week!

As we prepare for a loud, festive night of fireworks, ensure you and your horses are prepared! A few reminders on how we can help our new horses stay safe and calm during fireworks this weekend:

•Finish feeding or handling sessions early so you can be out of the pasture and have your horse settled into their designated area well before fireworks start. (We aim to have everyone ready by 5-6pm).
•Don’t enter the pasture with a panicking horse. While we don’t want to see them injure themselves, we can’t help them if we get ourselves injured too.
•Be a calm presence. Don’t panic or run around when the fireworks begin. If you treat it like a normal day, your horse will notice!
•If possible, set up a spot with some lawn chairs to stay comfortable that places you between your horse’s enclosure and the fireworks. Again, stay out of their enclosure, but if you’re closer to the fireworks than they are, that helps!
•Make noise early! Set up a loud radio (or music on your phone), have fun, and talk a lot! They’ll get used to a safe but loud presence before the big booms of the fireworks start.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY‼️
•Have an emergency vet and your regular vet’s number ready. Keep in mind that they’re going to be overwhelmed with calls during this holiday, so be patient and kind, even when things get stressful.

❗️Important Announcement❗️

Over the remainder of summer we will be making changes to God Given Farm’s operations and services. This summer marks 10 full years since I began teaching at God Given Farm and 7 years since I officially took over the business. This decision has not been made lightly, but is a necessary change.

I, Clea, will be taking a step back from lessons and training for the time being. This is to allow me to prioritize my family, my own horses, and make time for my own show career with Blossom. With 80-100 hours per week currently dedicated to serving our clients and their horses, a break is much needed!

Our Apprenticeship Program will be continuing as scheduled and I am looking forward to our remaining topics! Our August 29th Liberty Clinic with Janet Presnell will also be a go, and is filling up quickly with only one spot left!

I will no longer be offering off-site lessons or taking in long-term training horses aside from the occasional foster, but will still be providing virtual consultations in the meantime. You can reach out through messenger for more information and to get on the schedule. Hours will be limited.

While I have loved each and every person and horse I’ve had the opportunity to work with, I am excited for this new chapter here at God Given Farm. Be sure to keep an eye out for our occasional events, updates on Blossom and Willow’s training, and the occasional informational horse post!
