We've shared this amazing case of helping out one of our clients with a severe nose polyp, and now we wanted to show you the nitty and gritty details! Look at the size of that thing! This was causing our friend a great deal of trouble, critically blocking his nasal passageway. With the help of our specialty surgeon, we were able to successfully remove it to keep our friend breathing easy! Nose polys can pose a serious threat to your cat if left untreated. So, what are nasal polyps? Cat nasal polyps are non-cancerous growths that can develop in the nose, throat, or middle ear and may cause sneezing, congestion, noisy breathing, swallowing difficulties, or ear-related symptoms. Treatment typically involves surgical removal, though polyps can sometimes return; in our friend’s case, the large polyp was successfully removed, no ear or sinus abnormalities were found, and his prognosis is excellent, with monitoring recommended for any breathing problems, appetite changes, swelling, bleeding, or recurring respiratory symptoms.
Concerned your cat may have a nose polyp? Schedule an appointment with us today to help your feline friend breathe easy tomorrow!

Last week we had an interesting dental case! Our friend here came in for a routine dental cleaning, but something else had been brewing underneath his gumline. This particular tooth was literally holding on by a thread. On the outside, it presented as a normal, healthy tooth. But thanks to our dental x-rays, we were able to see exactly what was going on. The root of the tooth had deteriorated so much that it was leaving this tooth barely hanging on! Luckily, we were able to extract it before it caused some serious issues, keeping our friend happy and healthy! Having a full anesthetic dental is extremely important! If it weren't for these x-rays and proper scaling, we would've never known that this tooth would be such an issue. Non anesthetic dental scaling may be appealing due to price and convenience, but the true issue really lies beyond the tooth's surface. That's why here at New Tampa Animal Hospital, we strongly encourage and recommend regular anasthetic dental cleanings to maintain your pet's proper oral health. If left untreated, plaque and tartar build up can cause a whole heap of problems for your pet like heart and liver problems that could be costly treatments in the future. So, don't wait! Call us and schedule your pet's dental today!

Exciting update! We recently helped a brave cat with a large nasal polyp, and now he's breathing easy again. Nasal polyps are soft, painless, noncancerous growths on the lining of nasal passages or sinuses, often caused by chronic inflammation, allergies, or asthma. Larger polyps can block airflow and mucus drainage, just like in this case with our friend here. If you're concerned about your pet's breathing or nasal health, contact us to schedule a consultation exam today!
