Pull Freeze update

We are still in need of help financially with our current vet balance. Thank to those who donated with our last plea we have been able to make some progress on it.

That said, we are still unable to help anymore dogs until we get the rest of the balance (a little over $6,000) caught up.

This year, and the end of last, have been tough. Donations have been down, adoptions are super slow, the economy just isn't in a great place and everyone has their own struggles. We get it! It's hard all around right now. We have to be responsible and get this bill taken care of though before trying to take in any others.

So, if you're able to help out with a couple of dollars (it ALL adds up) we would be incredibly grateful. If you would consider making that couple of dollars a recurring monthly donation, we would be elated!

This little one came to us about 3 weeks ago, prior to our pull freeze. She and 6 others were surrendered to the shelter in horrible condition and absolutely TERRIFIED! They were all labeled as rescue only due to their fear levels and poor conditions. 😔

Lucy (formerly Sweatpee) was last on the list and was fearful enough to nip when people got too close. No aggression, just fear.

She's now been brought up to date on vaccines and gotten bloodwork done (it's not great, we'll need to repeat it soon) and she's been for a spa day with our incredibly patient groomer.

She'll be getting spayed and a dental when her bloodwork (and fear) are a little better controlled.

We're working on her fear and she is improving in her foster home. We hope for her to be ready soon.

There were pledges for her care but most weren't honored sadly. If you'd like to help out with her care or toward our vet bill, we would be forever grateful.

Meet Haley — the beautiful cloud who’s ready to melt your heart!

Haley is about 1–2 years old and takes her time making friends, preferring slow smiles, gentle pets, and whispered encouragements (doesn't every girl?). At first, she might peek from behind a couch or offer a sweet, tentative sniff, but with patience she blossoms into a loyal, loving companion who will show you never-ending love. She gets SO excited to see her people when they arrive home, wake up in the morning or just walk in from another room!

Haley is incredibly well behaved. She's house trained, loves her crate and doesn't chew or get into things she shouldn't. She’s medium energy with the occasional playful zoomies when she’s feeling cheeky. Haley is best with calm dog friends who give her space and won’t overwhelm her with rambunctious play; pushy pups need not apply, so she thrives best with chill doggie friends.

Her fluffy, show-stopping coat is basically a hug you can wear, but it does need regular brushing and the occasional pamper session to stay tangle-free and cloud-soft. A steady routine helps Haley feel safe and confident as she learns to trust new people and places. It doesn't take long and is well worth it!

If your home is calm, your heart is patient, and you have extra treats for slow introductions, Haley will blossom into the sweetest, softest friend you could ask for. She may start shy but give her time and she’ll fill your days with unwavering love and fluffy joy.

Heavy hearts and a plea for help... 🐾💔
Every time we look into the eyes of a dog in a kill shelter, we want to say "yes." We want to tell them they’re safe, that their pain is over, and that a better life is waiting.
But today, we have to face a devastating reality. Our vet bill has reached a breaking point, sitting at $9,251.69.

This isn't just a number on a page. It represents the "yeses" we’ve already given - the life-saving surgeries, the senior continuous care that keeps them comfortable, and the diagnostic tests that gave us answers when there was no hope left, the dogs who are still under diagnostics and treatment.

Because of this balance, we are officially on "Intake Hold."
It is the hardest thing for us to say. Until this debt is cleared, we cannot pull another dog from the shelter. Every dollar we owe is a barrier standing between a cold kennel and a warm bed. We are the only voice these dogs have, but right now, our hands are tied.

Pepper is on the lookout for her happily‑ever‑after home!

At just about a year old, this adorable fluffball is truly one of a kind. Once she gets to know you, she’s sweet as can be—though she can be a bit shy with new people and new situations. She gets along with other dogs but has a touch of “barrier sass” (a fancy way of saying she may bark or growl when there’s a fence, crate, or gate between her and someone unfamiliar).

But don’t let that fool you—Pepper is a gem! She loves to play, adores her toys, and is always up for a little cuddle time. She’d be perfectly happy as an only dog, but she also enjoys having a canine buddy… preferably one who doesn’t mind her enthusiastic, rough‑and‑tumble play style.

Pepper is crate trained, house trained, and walks nicely on a leash in familiar places. She’s fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up‑to‑date on heartworm and flea prevention.

🐾 Help Luna Get Her Groove Back! 🐾
We have been trying so hard since December to get Luna's skin issues under control. She's so sweet and has been miserable since long before she came to us unfortunately.

Luna has been battling some pretty intense skin issues and anxiety that have turned her into a bit of a frequent flyer at the vet’s office:

Multiple blood panels (she’s a champ with needles!)
A revolving door of oral and injectable medications.
Skin scrapes, ear packs and eye ointments. Oh my!

Despite all our efforts, she’s only showing slight improvement. It’s heartbreaking to see her so uncomfortable, but we aren't giving up on finding the "fix" for her skin!
