I used to be glad we had a “low maintenance herd”. I would see others giving supplements, electrolytes, preventative treatments and be sure we didn’t need all of that. That works for them; not for us as an all youth barn. My kids are not going to keep up with all of that.

BUT, I’ve learned the value and sometimes the necessity to use things I didn’t think we would. *When you learn more, you do better.*

As our herd has slowly grown over the years we’ve seen a greater need for greater care as well.

Now we are deworming kits upon weaning and using Corid every six months as a preventative.

I may add in another supplement for kits at four weeks old as well to try to prevent weaning enteritis. We’ve seen an increase in that the past few months.

In addition, as soon as I make it back to Rancher’s Supply I’m going to get Cattle Active and add that to the water daily.

Silver Haven’s Fireball has worked hard in our rabbitry providing some beautiful babies. He’s now living with another breeder near us who is super excited and grateful to have him!

In more news: Nehemiah and I recently went through two litters we have growing out and we will likely have Silver Fox ready for new homes in the next few weeks. Priority will be given to those who have reached out in the past.

*Please note that we have two boys showing this breed so selections are limited but we are happy to share and help others! We have ethically, terminally culled those that are not show prospects and meeting SOP standards as close as possible. That reduces the number as well but hopefully gives you confidence in us.

Patrick was excited to help show his brother’s Netherland Dwarfs in his absence at the Roadrunner show this weekend. In Show A Tame Mees' “Luke Buckwalker” came out on top as BOB and got a second look during the BIS contest.

In Show C we had 3/6 of the Netherland Dwarfs competing for BOB and BOSB: a Himalayan, Black, and a Chestnut—Joseph’s new buck.

Nehemiah won BOB and BOSB with a pair of Black SF, Jesko's “Veronica” and Jesko's “Dylan”, in Show C as well as BOV Chocolate with Jesko's “Winchester”.

We also had some group wins with ND in Show B and our SF won BOB in all three weekend shows. Annie’s Mini Rex are too young to be competitive at this time.
