Friends and Clients!
Meet our newest group of trainees!

Here we have Maggie, Lady, Sushi, Reggie, Kole, and Zeus!

They are all wrapping up week one, where we focus on their foundations, and all have made tremendous progress this week.

As many of you are aware, we also need to train their owners.

So tomorrow, their owners will come for their first private session, where they learn how to implement what we’re doing.

Help me welcome this newest group and wish a ton of success for their owners!

Tank the Rottweiler is learning to keep his feet on the ground!

In this video, I’m teaching Tank the value of paws down instead of where they are not supposed to be.

I like using drills like this to help improve a dog’s awareness of what they are doing with their paws.

This is especially true for large and giant breed dogs who sometimes just knock us down. And not because they are bad, they just don’t know any better.

Leave a comment if you have ever had your dog put their paws on you in an inappropriate way.

We are blessed with the best clients!

If you need a patient dog trainer who loves dogs and knows what he’s doing, I highly recommend Al Longoria. My dog, Tula is a rescue with a stubborn streak. She’s also about 7 or 8 ( maybe older) and is set in her ways. I truly did not think she would get much out of training, but I was wrong! When it was time to go to Al’s on Monday mornings, she was so excited! When she returned home on Fridays she was actually happy to go over what she learned. ( place and free commands, how to wait at an open door, how to walk beside you, ignoring other dogs and squirrels and so much more). Al and his staff are amazing! It is obvious that they all love dogs. Al is a great communicator and always gets back to you right away. He patiently teaches you the proper way to work with your dog. I love that he takes and shares lots of pictures and videos of what your dog is working on. So special! I highly recommend Longoriahaus Dog Training.

5 Minutes to a Smarter Dog: The Power of Free Shaping 🧠💡

Most training videos show you the “after,” but they rarely show the “during.” I’m sharing this full session with Lottie because the real magic of training happens in the quiet moments of confusion and discovery.

In this video, I’m using Free Shaping. No leash, no luring, and no verbal commands. Just Lottie, her brain, and a puzzle to solve.

Why this is a game-changer for new owners:

Active Learning: Lottie isn’t just following a treat; she’s “choosing” the behavior. This means she’ll remember it 10x longer.
Confidence Building: She learns that her actions have power! This turns a shy or “velcro” dog into a confident problem solver.
Mental Exhaustion: 10 minutes of this is more tiring than a 30-minute walk. Perfect for rainy days! 🌧️

The “Roadmap” of this session:
📍 0:00 - 1:30: The “Confusion Phase.” Watch how she experiments when the reward stops.
📍 2:10: The “Aha!” Moment. Notice the shift in her body language when it clicks.
📍 4:00+: Increasing the Challenge. We move from “being near the bed” to a deliberate Down.

Training isn’t about control; it’s about communication. Watch the full process to see how Lottie finds her voice! 🐾

Save this post 📌 to refer back to the next time you’re stuck in a training rut!

Ever feel like you’re speaking a different language than your dog? 🐾

In this video, I’m working with Lottie using a technique called Free Shaping.
Instead of pulling her into place with a leash or luring her with a treat held right in front of her nose, I’m simply waiting and letting her solve the puzzle herself. 🧠✨

Why is this so powerful for new owners to understand?

Active Learning: Because Lottie is "choosing" the behavior to get the reward, she learns it much faster and remembers it longer. It’s the difference between being told the answer and solving the math problem yourself!

Confidence Building: She learns that her actions have power. This builds a dog that is bold and eager to work, rather than one that just waits to be told what to do.

Mental Exhaustion: Don't have time for a long walk? 10 minutes of free shaping is often more tiring for a pup than 30 minutes of physical exercise because of the heavy mental lifting involved.

Watch her transition from just "hanging out" near the bed to a solid Sit, and finally a full Down. When a dog thinks an idea is their idea, they are 10x more likely to offer that behavior in the future!

What’s one thing your dog learned recently that surprised you? Let’s chat in the comments! 👇

How I teach dogs to roll over!

In this video, I’m demonstrating to my clients how to get their German Shepherd puppy, Charollete, to roll over.

Charollette just completed phase one of our Puppy Launchpad program.

In this program, Charollette stayed with my team and me Monday through Friday to receive professional instruction.

Then her family would pick her up on Friday and return for a private session on Saturday to integrate the training my team and I did into their lifestyle.

They did this for 2 weeks.

If you have a puppy, I have two spots available for a February 23rd start date.

Get your puppy enrolled today! Simply call or text us at 281.978.6038, and we’ll book you for a free consultation so you can determine if your puppy is ready for our program.

In this video, I’m showing you a much more comfortable way to hold your line. We’ll look at a few simple grips that use leash bends instead of brute strength to keep your dog secure. It’s way safer for them and a whole lot easier on your hands. 🐕💪

Give these a try on your next walk—your hands will thank you! ✨
