for Miss Toph!

This girl has stressed her owner out with some pretty serious dog reactivity. They live in an apartment in the middle of the city, so leash reactivity isn’t ideal.

Toph has done great in our 2 week board and train, and has done great being neutral around all my dogs, all the other training pups, and the neighborhood.

So now it’s time to start proofing out in public in the actual environment she’ll be living in.

And she’s been a rockstar 🤩

Can’t wait to reintroduce mom to the picture and transfer the training over.

Lets talk dog food.....

We feed Inukshuk dog food. Most of our clients make the switch. It’s simply the best. Why? Because you’ll be able to see the difference. I’m not going to post a bunch of wierd numbers or charts. I’m going to tell you what I see.

1) My competition dogs energy is so much better. Their stamina and ability to perform all day.

2) More nutrient and calorie dense= Less food.

3) I have personally seen dogs on medication or prescription food for allergies or digestive issues switch to the marine formula and never have to take meds again.

All the flashy, exciting, social media training is fun to watch.

All the sport training, bite work, nose work, trick training.

But how does that apply to you, and your life with your dog?

Do you want a high energy, high drive, working dog that needs a job?

Or do you want a dog that actually fits into your lifestyle?

The average pet dog is going to be expected to be calm 80% of the time.

Be able to settle and self soothe.
Be able to play with the kids and be around friends without over escalating and biting, jumping, going crazy.

So pick a training style that produces what you want out of life with your dog.

And that typically looks pretty boring.

Heaven forbid she do…absolutely anything. At all. Ever. Unless it’s exactly what she wants to do, when she wants to do it🙄

But at least she’ll grudgingly help proof dogs and tolerate us all… in exchange for kibble.

My dogs are all such lazy freeloaders😂😂

Heading into the week with this gem leading the way…

Cheaper never equates to better.

Literally never.

And the current “price match guarantee” I’m seeing floating around is making me nauseous.

I’m sure you can let common sense prevail and draw your own conclusions as a responsible dog owner.

What does your dog do when it’s not training?

Lots of naps, mental recovery, and playtime for decompression.

Play and exercise is important, and has its place in the whole process. Dogs that are happy, comfortable, and fulfilled are dogs that make the most progress and have sustainable results.

Make sure you know what life looks like when you send your dog to training or boarding.

Are they living in a kennel except for a 10 minute training session per day?

Are they only being let out for a couple potty breaks per day?

Are they being left alone in a facility or store front all night long?

At both our locations the dogs are in a home like environment, have multiple acres for exercise and playtime, and are never left on the property alone.

Your dogs become our dogs too.

Cheaper does not mean better.

This dog had no aggression or serious behavior issues when the owner contacted me. It was around 1 year old and just needed basic obedience and structure.

Our 2 week program is under $3k, but this owner was sold a longer program for less than $500 hundred more than our 2 weeks.

She saw more time for less money, and chose the cheaper option.

She got the results that “cheaper” gets you.

In this case, it was a dog so badly ruined and mentally damaged that it was a danger to the family and they chose to euthanize it.

Zero response from the “trainer”, zero follow up support.

Zero accountability.

I built this company to help owners avoid exactly this. We’ve worked with A LOT of dogs who have gone through other subpar training programs.

Cheap never stays cheap.

Cheap= Double training fees to fix the bad training

Cheap= More time dealing with the bad behaviors that weren’t resolved

Cheap= More stress and frustration for the owner

Cheap= Stress and damage to the dog

Cheap sometimes equals death.

Cheap is never the option that provides decades of experience, knowledge, skill, talent, or support.

You get what you pay for.

Cheap is just f🤬cking cheap.
