Dogs Without Borders is a 501c3 non-profit, small dog rescue that saves homeless & abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters in the Los Angeles area, and find them permanent and loving homes. We require an adoption application and a home-check. Our adoption fees are listed on our website. All dogs are spayed/ neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption, and come with a DWB ID tag.

Beautiful Barbie is learning to love. 💖

Barbie is an adorable, smart, playful, and healthy terrier mix who loves toys, jumping, and climbing (she is still under a year old). However, she had a rough start in life and was rescued from a hoarding situation (see previous post), so she trusts other dogs and is working on trusting people.

At the hoarder, she was living in filth with about 100 other dogs in a single home. Since being rescued, she has been decompressing in her loving foster home with a female human caretaker and some small doggie foster siblings. She makes a lot of eye contact, responds to verbal correction, and has been good about using puppy pads and going outside in an enclosed yard.

However, Barbie does not yet trust many people — she wants to, but it will take time and patience before she will let you get close. Her amazing foster has been working magic with her (really just patience, a quiet, calm environment, and small dog friends), and she is now sleeping on the bed, playing under the covers, and accepting gentle pets. She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate or pen and loves food, but she needs a human with experience with dogs, no small children, another small dog in the home, and someone - just one person - to be her hero and guide her to a lifetime of love.

🚨Foster Needed for Sophie🚨

Sweet Sophie is still waiting at our office in Woodland Hills. She is looking for a foster that can also take her to get spayed at our vet in Highland Park. She is super sweet, dog and kid friendly. She doesn't like being crated, but she sleeps well in her doggy bed nearby! She is potty trained and looking for a foster that can pick her up from the Woodland Hills office!

Sweet Blanca has come so far and is still waiting for her forever home! 3 yrs, 13 lbs. Meet Blanca 💖 This sweet, gentle girl is looking for her forever home! She has a calm, loving personality and would thrive with someone who enjoys a balanced mix of outdoor adventures and cozy downtime.

She loves long walks, hikes, and exploring the world by your side, but she’s just as happy cuddling up at home and sleeping in on lazy mornings. She’s crate trained, wonderful on walks, and rarely barks, making her a great fit for apartment living.

She gets along beautifully with people once she knows them and other dogs, especially dogs with calm, respectful energy. While she can be a little shy around very high-energy dogs and cautious when meeting new people, she is never fearful, just thoughtful and gentle. She can also be shy in new environments, but with a confident handler and gentle guidance, she learns quickly and settles in well. Once she warms up, her sweet playful personality really shines. She has now enjoyed outings at the beach, crowded markets, hikes and loves it all! She just needs someone to give her a chance to blossom and reveal herself.

She plays softly, isn’t food aggressive, and is more of a relaxed free feeder. She’s affectionate without being overly needy and is perfectly content simply being near her people. She's the kind of dog that EVERYONE in the neighborhood ends up knowing and loving for being so sweet.

Leo is ready for a forever home! 1 yr, 7 lbs, Male. NO young kids, please. Meet our sweet little Leo 🦁

This little guy has such a joyful yet calm personality. He’s the kind of dog who simply wants to be near his people. Leo absolutely loves cuddles, leaning against you, and curling up in your arms, but he’s also wonderfully independent in his own quiet way. Sometimes he’ll happily tuck himself into a cozy corner, relax in his crate on his own, or nap peacefully by the window, soaking up the warm sunshine.

He’s doing great in the car, behaves very well inside a crate, and even sleeps through the entire night comfortably in his crate.

Leo is currently potty training with consistency and patience. He may feel a little awkward with a leash at first, but if given enough time to adjust, he slowly starts moving more comfortably. He just needs someone patient who will let him build confidence at his own pace.

And once he feels comfortable enough to come out of his shell, it becomes a whole different story! He lights up at the park, happily sniffing every little thing and exploring the world with so much curiosity and excitement. He’s mostly easygoing around other dogs and tends to keep to himself, preferring calm and mellow company just like him.

One thing to note is that Leo can be a little sensitive around young children and may bark or react to them. He can also get vocal when he feels uncomfortable during things like taking medication, putting on a cone, or cleaning around his eyes. He does communicate his boundaries clearly and would do best with someone patient, gentle, and understanding.

He’s truly such a sweet soul, equal parts cuddle buddy and peaceful little independent guy 🐾

Toby is ready for a forever home! 5 yrs, 10 lbs, male. This guy stole our Director's heart and we simply HAD to rescue him. Toby has a very long, noodle like body and would do best in a home with minimal stairs and jumping (calling all dachshund lovers!). He will need to be with someone who can create a safe lifestyle to protect his spine from the pain that often comes in these dogs (and he is extra loooong!)

Toby is a friendly, trusting and cuddly dog. Toby has good energy for walks and likes to play with a soft toy. He is also happy to relax around the house on his bed or under blankets. Toby is very affectionate and likes to be with people.

He seems to be good with other animals and would probably like a dog sibling who has medium energy like him. He has been very respectful of his furry foster siblings: an older min-pin and a cat. We have not heard him bark once, but he does cry a little to communicate.

Toby does not know he has a sensitive back. He will try to jump on the couch, try to walk on stairs, and hops around so you have to watch him carefully. He stops when you correct him. He will let you carry him if you lift him gently and don’t surprise him. He will take a ramp, and his fosters are trying to train him to use it exclusively. It seems like Toby was allowed on the couch and to sleep in the bed in his past life and really likes to cuddle up under a blanket near you.

He's a sweet and gorgeous soul looking for the perfect forever family.

Kirby is ready for a forever home! 10 months, 10 lbs. Handsome Kirby is ready for love! This stunner was found as a stray and, sadly, noone came for him. He was filthy, matted, and wandering all alone. Since coming to Dogs Without Borders, he's been vaccinated, neutered, chipped, and had a total makeover...wowza he's a head turner!!

Kirby loves affection and loves his people. When he's with his person or people, he's very calm overall, but every now and then he’ll get a little burst of energy and want to play. Most of the time, though, he’ll find a cozy spot on the couch, curl up and drift off for a nap. He’s super chill, incredibly sweet and honestly just the cutest little guy.

When he is with other dogs, he does love to play and get the zoomies! He would be fine as the only dog or with a companion as long as they can keep up with him!

Kirby is house trained and working on leash manners and other basic obedience skills. A great dog looking for a great home!

We are so excited to continue to rescue dogs but we can’t do it without your help! We now need fosters more than ever.

We are looking for fosters that can pick up from our Woodland Hills office asap so we can get these dogs settled into foster homes! Please share with family and friends so we can keep rescuing 🙏🏽🐾🐶

Stash (Pic 1 & 2)- adorable 3-4 month old puppy. He is so sweet and he is looking for a two week foster home!

Oreo ( video 3 & 4)- neutered male, around 4 yrs old who is very shy and nervous at the shelter. His owners dropped him off today and he is very confused. He needs a calm foster home where he can decompress and know he is safe. No kids please

Sophie (video 5)-adorable female pug mix around 1 yrs old and 15 lbs. so friendly and good with kids! She is also looking for a foster that can take her to get fixed at our vet in Highland Park!

Enzo( Pic 6&7)- male, 10 months old, he’s looking for a new foster starting June 2nd. He will need a foster that can pick him up from our vet in Highland Park after his neuter around 4pm

2 female puppies (Pic 8&9)- 8 weeks old, looking for a foster that can pick them up tomorrow from our Woodland Hills office. Looking for a two week foster if possible!
