Headin' Home Pet Rescue, Inc. Headin' Home Pet Rescue was founded in 2008 by Dr. Jim Bader and Merri Van D**e.

We have placed numerous animals (dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs) in new homes and our mission is to provide the best care to our animals during their stay at the rescue and place them in a home dedicated to helping beyond their needs. In 2022, Emily Wolters and Kenzie Shannon followed their dream and continue to manage the rescue. Dogs are adopted out spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm and tick disease tested if old enough, and current on all core vaccines. Cats are adopted out spayed/neutered, microchipped, FIV and FeLV tested, and current on all core vaccines.

Today is all about celebrating the dogs who make our lives better every single day. We know our pups love nothing more than spending time with their humans—but what about the dogs who are still waiting for their humans to come along? 🥺🐶

For the dogs waiting patiently for their forever families, we think they deserve a little extra love today. ❤️

Want to make a rescue dog’s day? You can! 🐾

🦴 Spoil a shelter pup: Use our Amazon wishlist to send a pup a new bone.

🥣 Share a snack: Drop off a box of plain Cheerios or dog treats at Mapleview Animal Hospital for our waiting pups to enjoy.

📸 Share their story: Help a rescue dog (or cat) get noticed by sharing their adoption post. You never know who might see it and think, “That’s my dog.” ❤️

🏡 Consider fostering: Sometimes the best way to make a dog’s day is to give them a cozy place to relax.

And if you already have a dog, here are a few easy ways to make their day extra special:

Wit beyond measure, curiosity without limit, and a very good reason to be named after Hogwarts’ brightest.

This clever little explorer has never met a cardboard box, closet, or mysterious rustling noise she didn’t need to investigate. Her energy is truly boundless, with a spellbinding blend of zoomies, pounces, and toy-chasing that could outlast anyone at the castle.

But even the brightest mind needs to recharge. When her batteries finally run out, Rowena goes hunting for the coziest, warmest lap in the castle and curls up for a well-earned rest. 💙

It has come to our attention that the Sorting Hat may have made an error.

Lady Sally(zar) Slytherin was sorted into Slytherin, but let the record show she is a sweet, gentle soul with a heart of gold (and the softest paws in the wizarding world). 💚

She’s always up for a good play session, with feather wands, crinkle balls, and the occasional zoomies down the hallway. But when things get to be a bit much, she quietly disappears to the highest perch in the house, where she can watch over everything with those big, wise eyes. 👀

Sweet and innocent? Or is she silently orchestrating the whole household from above?

Honestly, we’re not ruling out that this is all part of the plan. 🐱🕯️

The Harry Potter bottle babies are all grown up and on their search for fur-ever homes. 💗

⚡️✨ Meet Sir Godric Gryffindor! 🦁🏰

“Where dwell the brave at heart…” and apparently, where dwell the best kitten cuddles! ❤️

Named after one of Hogwarts’ legendary founders, this little wizard has a heart as brave as a Gryffindor and paws destined for greatness. 🪄

When he’s not perfecting the fine art of napping in the common room or curling up for a little couch-side magic, Sir Godric can be found practicing his pouncing charms, casting zoomie spells, and fearlessly battling enchanted toys. 🧶✨

His favorite magic? The ability to melt hearts with one snuggle and make you forget all your troubles with a single purr. 🐾

Now, this handsome young wizard is ready for his next great adventure… finding a family to call his own!

🐾 Meet Ravioli! 🐾

This handsome good boy is about 5½ years old, and we suspect he’s a Goldendoodle. He is around 71 pounds! 💛

Ravioli is a smart guy who walks beautifully on a leash and knows several commands. He’s also been a social butterfly with the dogs he’s met during his short time with us! Before joining Headin’ Home, he was a frequent visitor at doggy daycare, and his friends at have generously offered a 20-day daycare package for his adopter if they’re local! 🐶 What a wonderful way to help him settle into his next chapter!

We would love to find Ravioli a foster-to-adopt home where he can settle in, build a bond with his people, and show off his wonderful personality.

Ravioli is looking for his third home in a relatively short period, and we want to make sure this next one is truly his forever. ❤️ He deserves someone who will be committed to him for the long haul, including providing any continued training and guidance he may need.

We’ve heard that Ravioli is quite the clever boy! In his most recent home, despite attempts to secure the refrigerator, he reportedly managed to find his way inside while his people were away. 😂 Apparently, this boy’s intelligence extends beyond basic commands… and perhaps into a little too much self-service!

Ravioli has so much potential, and we know the right person will appreciate his smarts, his social nature, and all the love he has to give. He just needs someone willing to help him succeed and give him the stability he deserves.
