Stormy day? Challenge accepted. 😂

Today’s VIP Plus crew brought the adventure indoors for some rainy-day fun, games, enrichment and plenty of silliness! Because nobody came to Dogs Bay to sit around staring out the window waiting for the weather to cooperate. 🐶

And there’s actually a big benefit to days like this. Dogs get to use their brains, try something different, interact with their friends and burn off some energy even when outdoor adventures aren’t an option.

Around here, we just make a Plan BARK. 😂🐾

Today’s assignment: CHASE DA BIG BALL!!! 😂

There’s just something about a giant ball that brings out the “I MUST MOVE DIS THING!” in a dog. Our VIP Plus fur kids got to push, chase, stalk, steer and zoom after the herding ball — and some took their job VERY seriously. 😂

Herding ball play is more than a great energy burner. It gives dogs a fun way to use their brains and bodies together, practice focus and problem solving, build confidence, and satisfy those natural chase-and-control instincts.

And the best part? More time OUT of the suite doing something they LOVE. 💙

At Dogs Bay, we don’t think a boarding stay should just be about waiting for their humans to come home. Their vacation should be an adventure, too!

🐾💦 VIP PLUS POOL PARTY! 💦🐾

Apparently the Dogs Bay dress code today was wet fur, happy faces and absolutely NO concern about getting the humans soaked. 😂

Our VIP Plus crew hit the pools for some splashing, playing, exploring and good old-fashioned summertime dog fun!

And while it looks like one big party — it’s also exactly what we want VIP Plus to be: more time out of the suite, more movement, more interaction, more enrichment and more opportunities to just enjoy being a DOG. ❤️

Some fur kids dove right into the action. Some preferred a little poolside investigating. And some were clearly just there for the social scene. 😂

🐾 Dogs Bay FAQ: Why do I see some dogs dragging leashes in the play yards?

A big group of happy dogs playing together may look effortless…but there’s a whole lot of skill happening behind the scenes! 🐶🐶🐶

Group play takes a well-trained, observant staff who know how to read body language, manage energy levels and step in before little misunderstandings become bigger ones.

At Dogs Bay, we’re especially careful with new fur friends during their first three play sessions. We take introductions slowly and give them time to learn the yard, meet new dogs and get comfortable with our team.

During this transition, you may see a dog dragging a lightweight leash. It gives our staff a quick, low-stress way to guide or redirect them if they become overwhelmed, overly excited or simply need a little help figuring out the rules of the group.

It’s not because they’re “in trouble.” 💙 It’s simply one more tool we use to help new dogs have a safe, positive and successful introduction to group play.

Because good play doesn’t just happen—it’s carefully supervised! 🐾

We’re so excited to introduce Mind & Manners, our new trainer-led boarding add-on led by Trainer Tobias from Abel Dog Training. 🐾

This is a 20-minute, one-on-one session designed to help your dog feel more comfortable, confident and successful during their stay with us.

Every session is personalized to the dog in front of us that day and may help with:

✨ Impulse control — making calmer choices when excitement takes over
✨ Social skills — learning to read other dogs’ cues and interact more appropriately
✨ Confidence building — feeling safer with unfamiliar things, routines and environments
✨ Calm behavior — settling more easily in a busy boarding setting
✨ Better focus — checking in and staying engaged even with distractions around
✨ Better play skills — keeping play balanced, appropriate and more enjoyable
✨ Coping skills — handling frustration or overstimulation in healthier ways
✨ Brain games — mental exercise for dogs who need more than physical activity alone

Today we slowed things waaaay down and let the NOSES lead the way!

No rushing. No destination. Just fresh Michigan air, 23 acres of nature and plenty of very important doggie business to investigate. 😂

To us, it’s a walk. To them, it’s the morning news, neighborhood gossip, a treasure hunt and about 472 fascinating stories written in grass. 🐶

Sniff walks are wonderful mental enrichment, giving our fur kids a chance to use one of their very favorite superpowers — that amazing nose!

And judging by the photos…there was a LOT of news to catch up on today. 😂💙
