These little sleepy dudes in their hammock are too sweet for words. Juniper has been doing a good job socializing Vanilla and Sundae and they don’t bite anymore ❤️

The pigs had a visit from the farrier for their routine hoof and tusk maintenance.

Hugo did a great job. Henry was super calm. Newman seemed very comfortable on his back, and seemed to enjoy pedaling his legs, and Winnie…well, this video doesn’t include the extent of Winnie‘s hollering. We closed the barn doors so we didn’t alarm the neighborhood.

Oats, Ruby and Mabel didn’t need any work done.

Everybody is looking gorgeous and feeling spiffy!

We have two events in November: Samhain and the Sanctuary Stroll.

Samhain will be a beautiful evening around the fire pit remembering loved ones we have lost, and reflect on the cycle of endings and beginnings.

The Sanctuary Stroll is a morning tour of three microsanctuaries in Hunterdon County. Spend time with rescued animals and support the non-profits doing this hard work.

Mullein thrives where other plants would struggle to survive. It is resilient. The leaves, flowers, and roots of Mullein are traditional medicines, while the dead stalks have been used in ceremonies and rituals for centuries.

Mullein candles (historically referred to as mullein torches or “hag tapers”) date back at least 2,000 years to ancient Rome and ancient Greece.

Some mullein folklore:
Carrying a twig of Mullein will guard against fear, wild animals, and approaching evil. (1000 AD)
Mullein could drive away harmful spirits and protect against enchantment.
Placing Mullein beneath a pillow can guard against nightmares.
A person bent a Mullein stalk toward their beloved’s home and watched what happened afterward. If the plant returned upright, the affection was believed to be mutual.

Thank you Sara for another wonderful class honoring the land, this sanctuary and the community. And for providing these classes to support the animals at Fluffy Butt Rescue.
