This green eyed beauty was a mother to 8 kittens so she knows how to set everyone straight when the other kitties step out of line!
Can you believe Beverly was going to lose her life after raising her kittens to adoption age?
Over crowded and underfunded South Carolina shelters have minimal resources to keep animals for long periods of time. While Beverly's kittens were adorable and adopted quickly, she had a trait that kept people at bay from adopting her without having veterinary work done.
Beverly has a condition not often seen in your average cat but is a beloved trait in some breeds.
She has an elongated soft plate and pushed in nose that makes her snore like a freight train and purr loud enough to be a lion!
It causes her no distress even when running around like all crazy cats should but at times when you hear her sigh, it seems to fit perfectly with the situation at hand.

I grabbed a quick picture of Rammie this morning that reminded me of one I had taken a few days after his rescue over 6 years ago.
He was so wild looking and still in total survival mode, no strings attached. No one knows how long he was hiding in that rocky gorge and he needed no one to tell him how he was going to stay.
Today he is such a softie and is always on the lookout for treats and extra attention to scratching behind his ears. He loves his dust baths in the sun. This old man has serious selective hearing and he sleeps so soundly he often makes me go over and make sure he can still hear me for dinner. 🤣😜❤️

True sanctuary goes so far beyond the day of rescue.❤️

Bagheera and his brother, Mr. Mann, were abandoned on the side of the road in a cage. It took months for them to stop hiding under blankets at the sound of a human voice. These brothers will never need to have that fear again and their love for each other shines so bright.
Thank you for helping me give these boys the life that they deserve so they can forgive the failures of those that did them wrong.❤️🐾

Thank you so much for your kindness and love with the loss of our beautiful girl, Cari. It is very difficult to lose any of the kids as each one is so special to us.
It stings just a little bit deeper when they have walked by your side since the beginning. Cari has been Gratitude Gate's soft hearted leader for the last decade. Personally, this is the first time I have not had a horse since I was 16 years old and I turn 41 next week. I feel so empty.
It is a really big hole that I am trying to fill with some wonderful memories of all of the years we had together. ❤️

Rest in peace beautiful girl.❤️🌈🐎
Cari has been with us for 12 years and has been the acting Matriarch in our beautiful herd.
Her coat was always shining and her days were always full of friends and family.
I have known since last winter that something has not been quite right with her but, she never let on that she was in pain. She actually had the appointment scheduled to see the vet the very same day that she had colicked. She has had edema around her chest and abdomen but not into her legs as you typically see with heart issues in horses.
Her blood work was beautiful multiple times. She tested negative for tick borne diseases and her heart and lungs sounded great. She kept checking out okay.
Every. Single. Time.
Cari was in her 20s and unfortunately with age, the list we can fix starts to become shorter. Many times with these very large animals, it is hard to get a direct visual or feel if there is a mass or tumor that may be slowly growing. Knowing her circulatory system was being greatly affected, as she could barely walk up the hill the past few days, I did not want to wait for further and risk her suffering. With the summer heat just around the corner, I didn't want to imagine the idea of her falling and passing unexpectedly in the field.

We have finally had some weather that felt like spring but the heat is soon to return to the 90. We are so grateful that on the most beautiful day we made sure Cari was given the dignity to be laid to rest gently in the shade surrounded by everything she knew and loved. Thank you to each of you that has sent love and prayers her way.
She is buried with Bumble and Babe and will always be our beautiful brown eyed girl.

7 years ago with a baby Bebop! ❤️🐽❤️
Bebop started out running the streets of Washington DC after someone likely purchased him as a "mini pig" and he grew too large for their small apartment. Pigs are illegal in city limits and once they start making noise, it is hard to hide the Oink.
Bebop was likely kicked out of his home and was forced to survive on the streets for weeks until Animal control was able to catch him.
Bebop was very fearful of people when he arrived after being chased for so long. I was so afraid that he would never come around.
This video was one of those first mornings he followed me out to his pasture like a proud boy with a little drool on his nose. ❤️
