Ohio SPCA The Ohio SPCA intercedes on behalf of all animals and brings about change to situations and practices in which cruelty, neglect, or suffering exists.

The Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals works to prevent and stop cruelty to animals throughout Ohio.The Ohio SPCA is the leading statewide organization for rescuing animals. Hundreds of companion and farm animals are rescued and rehabilitated by the Ohio SPCA every year. Additionally, many animals are helped through educating their owners about proper care. Whenever possible, we

help provide feed or medical care to families or individuals faced with a temporary financial hardship. Every humane organization dreams of the day when cruelty to animals can be reduced to the point of elimination. The Ohio SPCA (formerly known as the Ohio Humane Education Association) was formed in 1983 to help bring this dream to reality through humane education.Founded by two school teachers, the goal was to educate adults and children about the need to be kind to all animals. Ohio SPCA Goals:

- To extend to present and future generations humane education, which will lead to an awareness of the need for people to be responsible and kind stewards over animals.

- To rescue and rehabilitate abused animals and then place them in new forever homes.

-To bring reform to Ohio's county dog shelters through eliminating the use of inhumane euthanasia such as gas chambers and through promoting proactive adoption practices. Those of us involved in Ohio SPCA believe that many people are unaware of inhumane practices and the suffering that many animals are forced to endure. No one likes to talk about pain, suffering, and death, but change can’t take place unless the facts are presented to the public. Adults and children must be educated about problems such as pet overpopulation, factory farming, and animal experimentation. Once they know and understand what has been hidden from them, a percentage of these people will at least speak out against the inhumanity or actively decide to help. http://www.ohiospca.org

Leaf is a handsome 3–4-year-old DSH who came to us from a hoarding situation. Life hasn't always been easy for him, and he can be a little shy when meeting new people. However, if you're willing to give him a little time and patience, you'll discover an incredibly sweet cat who just wants to feel safe and loved.

Meet Lily! 🐾

Lily is a beautiful 1-year-old DSH tabby and white female with a story of resilience and a heart full of love.

When Lily first came to us, she was an injured stray with suspected head trauma. She was thoroughly evaluated by a veterinarian and has since been cleared for adoption. While she does have a slight "head bob," it doesn't slow her down one bit! Lily is happy, healthy, and living her best life.

What truly makes Lily special is her personality. She is one of the sweetest cats you'll ever meet and loves attention from her people.

This sweet 3-year-old Pitbull is looking for a special home, one that understands his unique needs and can offer the patience and love he deserves.

Peter is deaf and has some visual impairment, which means he navigates the world a little differently. Despite his challenges, he’s a loving and resilient pup with so much potential in the right environment.

Peter was recently returned to our adoption center after his adopter’s other dog became jealous, creating an unstable situation at home. Because of this, Peter will thrive best in a calm, structured home without cats and ideally as the only pet, or with a very easygoing companion.

He will need time to adjust to new surroundings, but with gentle guidance and understanding, Peter will make a loyal and affectionate friend.

Lovely Hermione is a 10-year-old feline who came to the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society in January 2025 after her previous owner could no longer care for her. She’s been patiently waiting ever since , far too long for such a kind, gentle soul. 💛

Hermione is the picture of calm contentment. Her favorite hobbies? Sunbathing, lounging on a soft bed, and quietly keeping you company while you go about your day. She doesn’t ask for much, just a peaceful home, a warm window, and someone who will love her for the rest of her golden years.

🚨🐾 EMERGENCY MEDICAL CASE: DAISY 🐾🚨
This afternoon, a tiny kitten we have named Daisy arrived at our back door in desperate need of help.
Daisy is severely emaciated, appears to be experiencing neurological issues, and has concerning abnormalities involving her eyes. At this time, the cause of her condition is unknown, but it was immediately clear that she required emergency veterinary care.
With no local veterinary clinics open, we rushed Daisy to West Central Ohio Veterinary Emergency Services in Lima. Emergency care is significantly more expensive than routine veterinary visits, but waiting until regular business hours was simply not an option. Daisy needed help now.
Cases like Daisy's are why your support is so important. When animals arrive suffering, injured, or in critical condition, we must act immediately regardless of the cost.

Loyal. Loved. Waiting for her second chance.

Shystie Malone came to us through our Safe Boarding Program, a program designed to help families facing hardship, such as homelessness or house fires, by providing temporary care for their pets at no cost.

Her mom loved her very much and did everything she could, but after months of boarding, she was unfortunately unable to secure housing and made the heartbreaking decision to leave Shystie in our care so she could have a chance at a stable future.

Now, this sweet 9-year-old girl is ready to find her forever home.

Meet Roofina!

This lovely lady is around 6 years old and has quite the story to tell. Roofina came to the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society in a rather unconventional way , we believe she was dumped on our property.

At first, she wanted nothing to do with coming inside. Instead, she earned her name by patrolling our grounds from the roof! For months, our team set traps and worked patiently to win her trust. She was too smart of any humane traps.

We soon discovered something special , Roofina loves dogs! She would often approach dogs being walked around the property, eager to hang out. Eventually, with some patience (and tasty treats), one of our amazing volunteers safely brought her inside.

Now, Roofina is thriving! She is:

✨ Dewormed
✨ Vaccinated
✨ FELV/FIV negative
✨ Microchipped

She currently lives in our roaming room, where she enjoys spending time with her many feline friends. Roofina would make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a cat with spirit, charm, and a love for canine buddies.
