World Sea Turtle Day, June 16th, is a day used to honor and highlight the importance of sea turtles. These creatures, like any other creature, are magnificent in their own way. Not only are sea turtles beautiful animals, but they also show incredible perseverance and resiliency – after all, they have been nesting on beaches for millions of years. Animal Rights Awareness Week occurs the third week of June every year. The week raises awareness about animal welfare and how to best protect and respect animals. The topics for this week are animal cruelty, puppy mills, animal testing, e.t.c. The week was first established and observed in 1991 by the In Defense of Animals organization. Each year, it is observed to raise public awareness about global animal rights issues and speak up for animals that humans have exploited for millennia.

It's widely thought that one human year is equal to seven dog years. While that's a good average for dogs, that number varies depending on the breed and weight class. Though there are many exceptions to this rule, bigger dogs tend to reach their senior or golden years more quickly than smaller dogs. No two dogs are the same, so use these numbers as a general guideline.
