🌸☠️ TOXIC PLANT OF THE MONTH: AUTUMN CROCUS ☠️🌸
Fall is almost here, but not everything blooming this season is safe for our furry friends! 🍂🐾
Autumn Crocus (Colchicum autumnale) is HIGHLY TOXIC to both dogs and cats. 🚨 It contains colchicine, a toxin that can cause serious and potentially life-threatening illness.
🐶🐱 Signs of poisoning may include:
• Vomiting & diarrhea
• Drooling
• Abdominal pain
• Weakness or lethargy
• Difficulty breathing
• Organ damage in severe cases
⚠️ Important: Every part of the Autumn Crocus can be toxic, especially the bulbs. If you suspect your pet has chewed on or ingested any part of this plant, contact your veterinarian or an animal poison control center immediately.
