Another haul in clinic in the books at Monument Valley Agri-Science Center with the wonderful Clyde McBride and his well trained staff and students. We were able to serve over 60 animals and their owners yesterday.

I cannot thank Sun Valley Livestock Auction enough for opening their facilities to our haul-in clinic days. Even with an afternoon haboob, we were able to serve everyone that came. The Arizona Livestock Incidence Response Team (ALIRT) recently had our annual meeting. Livestock vets, university vets, extension agents, and the state vets all join together to protect our herds from disease. We were delighted to be joined by Dr. Escobar, from Mexico, to cover rapid New World Screw Worm exams for cattle.

We are now another 7+ years away from being a scrapie free country. The clock resets each detection, and we must continue following epidemiological and surveillance conditions. Contact me if you do not have scrapie tags or a flock ID for your sheep and goats.

🚨ANIMAL HEALTH ALERT🚨
USDA APHIS confirmed classical scrapie in a sheep slaughtered in a facility in Oregon.

APHIS and state animal health officials recently initiated an investigation to determine the flock of origin. The affected animal did not have an ear tag. This case is a reminder of why tagging compliance and surveillance participation are critical to safeguarding flocks nationwide.
