🐾 Bear is putting in the work today! 🐾

Bear, a 1-year-old Newfoundland/Golden Retriever mix, spent some time working on impulse control today. At his age, the world is exciting, and learning to slow down, think, and make good choices is an important skill.

Living with two young children means Bear needs to be gentle, patient, and able to manage his excitement. Through consistent training and practice, he’s learning that calm behavior opens the door to all the things he loves.

He’s a very good boy with a bright future ahead of him, and we’re proud of the progress he’s making every day. 💙🐾

💙💚 This Gal is enjoying the sights after training this morning.

Once a stray, she chose her person—and the two have been building an incredible bond ever since. She’s a lovely pup with a big heart, and watching her and her mom grow together has been rewarding. Through patience, communication, and trust, they’ve both come a long way in understanding each other.

Progress isn’t just about training the dog—it’s about strengthening the relationship. 🐾💙💚

🐾 Pet Health Alert: What Are Screwworms? 🐾

Screwworms aren’t your typical maggots. These larvae feed on living tissue, making them a serious medical emergency for pets and livestock.

⚠️ Watch for:
• Open wounds that worsen quickly
• Foul odor from a wound
• Excessive licking or chewing
• Swelling, discharge, or visible larvae

If you suspect screwworms, seek veterinary care immediately. Early treatment can prevent severe tissue damage and infection.

✅ Prevention starts with routine checks. Take a minute each day to look over your pet for cuts, hot spots, skin irritation, or other wounds.

A quick daily health check can make all the difference. 🐶❤️

Working on “Place” today. 🐾

The place command is one of the most valuable skills a dog can learn. It teaches impulse control, patience, and how to settle calmly, even when life is busy around them.

🐾🚨 Lets talk about muzzles!

🐾 Why muzzle training matters:
• Veterinary visits and emergency care can be frightening, even for friendly dogs.
• Injured dogs may react differently when in pain.
• Grooming, nail trims, or other handling procedures can be overwhelming for some dogs.
• It adds an extra layer of safety during training and behavior modification.
• It can reduce stress for handlers, allowing them to stay calm and help their dog succeed.

🐾 The key is training, not forcing.
A muzzle should be introduced gradually and paired with positive experiences. The goal is for your dog to happily place their nose into the muzzle because they know good things happen when it appears.

🐾 A properly fitted basket muzzle allows a dog to:
✔ Pant
✔ Drink water
✔ Take treats
✔ Move comfortably

Muzzle training is like teaching your dog to wear a seatbelt. You hope you’ll never need it, but if the situation arises, both you and your dog will be prepared.
