✨ "What I'm really trying to do is teach them connection. I want them to know me, and I want to know them." – Dr. Glenn Cochran

If you've ever sensed that something deeper is available in riding — something that has less to do with what discipline you're in and everything to do with curiosity and feel — Dr. Glenn Cochran is living proof.

He's a Texas cattleman, emergency room physician, classical dressage rider, honorary charro, and lifelong c**t starter who has spent decades refusing to accept the false walls between western, Iberian, and classical equitation. In this episode he traces the origins of the Baucher flexions back to 17th century Germany and possibly the Islamic texts of the Reconquista, explains what Oslerian medicine has to do with training horses, and shows why the most adventurous riders have always been the ones who swim in every world.

This is a conversation about what happens when you follow your curiosity all the way down.

Clamping down with your glutes and inner thighs creates tension in your horse's back. Learn to relax these muscles to create a safe, receptive space, allowing your horse's back to move freely and naturally. Avoid bracing, and your horse won't have to defend itself.
