Muzzles are not a punishment — they’re a safety tool. 💙🐾

At Pawsitively Pets In-Home Veterinary Care, we highly encourage positive muzzle training for dogs of all personalities and sizes, but especially for our fearful or reactive patients.

A properly introduced muzzle can help:
✔️ Reduce stress during medical care
✔️ Keep pets, owners, and veterinary staff safe
✔️ Prevent bites caused by fear or pain
✔️ Make emergencies less overwhelming
✔️ Build confidence through positive training

The key is training before a stressful situation happens. A muzzle should be introduced slowly, positively, and paired with rewards like treats and praise. 🧀👏

Many loving, well-behaved dogs may still react when they’re scared, injured, or uncomfortable — and that’s okay. Muzzle training helps prepare everyone for those moments safely and compassionately.

Our goal is always low-stress, fear-free handling and helping pets feel as comfortable as possible during care. 🏡🐶

Let us know if you have any questions about how to best introduce muzzle training to your dog!

It’s Dog Anxiety Awareness Week — and it’s a reminder that anxiety in pets is real, common, and treatable. 🐾

Dogs can experience stress and anxiety just like we do. Some common signs include:
• Pacing or restlessness
• Hiding or withdrawal
• Excessive barking or whining
• Destructive behavior

The good news? There are ways to help. 💙

✔️ Consistent routines
✔️ Safe, comfortable spaces
✔️ Behavior support and training
✔️ Medications

As an in-home veterinary practice, we’re able to evaluate your pet in their natural environment — where anxiety often shows up the most — and help create a plan that works for them. 🏡

If you’ve noticed signs of anxiety in your dog, you’re not alone — and we’re here to help.

🎉 Meet our Pet of the Month — Kyro! 🎉

Kyro may have been a little unsure of us at first… 🫣

But with a little patience, a lot of kindness, and (most importantly) a few rounds of spray cheese 🧀… we quickly became friends!

Now? Total sweetheart. Certified good boy. 💙🐾

We love watching our patients grow more comfortable and confident during our visits — sometimes all it takes is a gentle approach (and snacks 😉).

April is Heartworm Awareness Month — and here in Florida, even strictly indoor pets require prevention year-round. 🐾

Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes and can cause serious — even life-threatening — disease in both dogs and cats.

The truth is:
Just one mosquito bite can transmit heartworm disease. That's all it takes to potentially alter the course of your pet's life.

Once your pet tests positive for Heartworm Disease, treatment can be expensive, often takes months, and requires strict rest. In short, it's a difficult path to take.

The good news? Heartworm disease is preventable. 💙

✔️ Monthly prevention is key (even for indoor pets!)
✔️ Annual testing is recommended for dogs

As an in-home veterinary practice, we make testing and prevention easy and stress-free — right from your home. 🏡

Not sure if your pet is up to date? We’re happy to help you review their prevention plan.

Protecting your pet starts with prevention! 🐶🐱

Did you know we offer in-home X-rays? 🐾🩻

That means advanced diagnostics — without the stress of a clinic visit.

In-home radiographs can help us evaluate things like:
✔️ Limping or injuries
✔️ Arthritis and mobility concerns
✔️ Breathing issues
✔️ Abdominal concerns
✔️ Heart conditions.. and more!

All from the comfort of your pet’s home, where they feel safest. 🏡💙

This is especially helpful for senior pets, anxious pets, or those who don’t travel well.

Have questions about whether X-rays might be helpful for your pet? Reach out — we’re happy to help guide you!
