Did you know Edgar Allan Poe and his wife, Virginia, spent part of their honeymoon in Petersburg in 1836, just a few blocks from today’s River Street Market?

Join us for Poe trivia and performances of two of his most beloved poems, The Raven and Annabel Lee. A little literary mystery and macabre fun seems just right for October!

We’re thrilled to welcome local author Esther Jade and celebrate the publication of her book, Egyptian Escapade!

Esther is a familiar face and regular customer at River Street Market, which makes it especially exciting to cheer her on. Stop by, meet her, and pick up a signed copy!

This Saturday Is Edgar Allen Poe in Petersburg event.

We will have 2 ladies in period dress roaming the market asking our customers Trivia questions about Edgar Allen Poe. There will be recitals of "The Raven and Annabelle Lee ". Michelle Murrills
will also give a 10-15 minute History of Edgar Allen Poe and his time in Petersburg. We will also be serving hot apple c***r.

Yes, we’re here!

Getting to us might be a little tricky today with the VSU Homecoming Parade, but what a perfect excuse to slow down and take a stroll through beautiful, historic Old Towne Petersburg!

We’re hanging out next to our friends at Hillcrest Farm (seriously, isn’t their fall display gorgeous?!), and we’ve got all your fresh mushroom and microgreens needs covered!

Come enjoy a little autumn in Old Towne, support your local farmers, and take home something delicious!
