🐾❤️ WELP... ALL THIS HARD WORK IS PAYING OFF! OFFERING $20 ADOPTION FEE STAURDAY ONLY! 6/13/2026 ❤️🐾

For months, we've been working alongside community cat caregivers throughout Dickinson.

Trapping.
Spaying and neutering.
Vaccinating.
Monitoring colonies.
Providing resources.
And helping citizens become part of the solution.

And now we're seeing one of our favorite outcomes.

🎉 ADOPTABLE KITTENS AND CATS! 🎉

Not every cat living outdoors is feral. As we work through managed colonies, we often find kittens and cats that are friendly, social, and ready for something more than life on the streets.

They deserve families.

They deserve warm beds.

They deserve toys scattered across the living room floor and people who love them.

Before becoming available for adoption, these kittens and cats are quarantined and monitored for illness. They are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and receive all the care they need to start their new lives. If they are old enough, they are already spayed or neutered. If they are not quite old enough yet, their spay or neuter surgery is still included with your adoption fee and will be completed through Bayou Animal Services when they are ready.

And right now, they can be yours for just...

🎉🐱 $20! 🐱🎉

And honestly... we need your help.

Our adoption room, affectionately known as **"Meow Town,"** is almost full.

That's wonderful news because it means our Community Cat Program is working. We're finding friendly, adoptable kittens and cats and giving them a chance at a better life.

But it also means we need to create space.

Next week, we'll be back out in the field working more colonies, helping more caregivers, and identifying more cats and kittens that need our support.

We know there are more adoptable kittens and cats waiting for their chance.

The question is: will we have room for them?

Every adoption opens a kennel.

Every open kennel allows us to help the next kitten or cat in need.

Every family that adopts becomes part of this mission.

The Community Cat Program isn't just about managing colonies.

It's about creating opportunities.

Opportunities for healthier cats.

Opportunities for fewer kittens born outdoors.

And opportunities for amazing cats and kittens to find the families they've been waiting for.

Come meet your new best friend.

Check them all out here! https://www.bayouanimalservices.org/adoptable-cats

FYI...Their pictures are not great! We haven't been able to update most of them. So, come in and meet them!

Because every kitten and every cat deserves the chance to trade the outdoors for a forever home.

And if Meow Town has taught us anything, it's that sometimes the best family member finds you when you least expect it. ❤️🐾

🗺️🐾 EVERY PIN TELLS A STORY 🐾🗺️

Meet Officer Amy Englishbee and one of her most important tools: her Dickinson Community Cat Map.

Every pin on this map represents a colony that is currently being managed through our Community Cat Program.

But these aren't just pins.

Each one represents cats that are being monitored.
Cats that are being spayed and neutered.
Cats that are receiving rabies vaccinations.
Cats that are no longer contributing to endless litters of kittens born outdoors.

Each pin also represents a citizen who decided to become part of the solution.

Over the last several months, Officer Englishbee has worked tirelessly throughout Dickinson identifying colonies, connecting with caregivers, educating residents, and helping expand responsible community cat management throughout our city.

With every new colony identified and every new caregiver willing to help, another pin is added to the map.

And we are just getting started.

The success of this program does not belong to Bayou Animal Services alone. It belongs to the residents who care enough to take action. It belongs to the volunteers, caregivers, veterinarians, and supporters who understand that real compassion means more than simply feeding cats.

It means preventing suffering before it starts.

It means healthier cats, fewer kittens born outdoors, improved public health, and a better quality of life for both people and animals.

This truly is a village mission.

If you are feeding outdoor cats, know of a colony that needs assistance, or would like to become part of the solution, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can continue adding pins to the map and making a difference one colony at a time.

🐾 Because every pin on this map represents hope.
🐾 Every pin represents progress.
🐾 And every pin represents a community working together.

❤️🐾 COCO & MICHAEL UPDATE 🐾❤️

Yesterday we introduced you to two tiny kittens who had already endured more suffering than any baby animal should.

Today, we have a mixed update.

Michael's surgery was successful.

The prolapse was repaired, and now we wait and pray that his little body continues to heal the way we hope it will. He is currently on a carefully managed recovery plan that includes laxatives and a wet-food-only diet to reduce strain while everything heals.

He still has a road ahead of him, but today he was given a chance.

A chance that almost didn't come.

As for sweet CoCo, the veterinary team made the difficult decision to postpone her surgery.

At just 10 weeks old, she is simply too small and too weakened by parasites to safely undergo anesthesia right now. While her damaged eye will still need to be removed, the safest thing we can do is focus on making her stronger first.

The good news is that she is receiving treatment and pain management, so she does not have to continue suffering while we work to get some much-needed weight on her tiny frame.

For now, CoCo's job is simple:
Eat.
Rest.
Grow stronger.

Michael's job is to heal.

And our job is to continue fighting for both of them.

These two kittens are a heartbreaking reminder of why community cat management matters. Without intervention, injuries worsen, parasites multiply, and tiny problems become life-threatening emergencies.

But tonight, unlike so many kittens before them, CoCo and Michael are safe.

They are warm.
They are being treated.
They are being loved.

And because of supporters like you, they have a chance.

We will continue to provide updates as they recover.

Please keep both of these little fighters in your thoughts. ❤️

🎆 FREE MICROCHIPS JUST IN TIME FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY! 🎆

The Fourth of July is one of the busiest times of the year for lost pets.

Even pets that have never escaped before can become frightened by fireworks and find themselves far from home in a matter of seconds.

The good news?

A microchip can help bring them home.

Thanks to the generosity of Bayou Friends Forever, Inc. Bayou Animal Services is proud to offer:

🐾 FREE MICROCHIPS
📅 June 24th
⏰ 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
📍 Bayou Animal Services
3100 Deats Road
Dickinson, TX 77539

This event is open to pets throughout Galveston County.

A collar can break.

Tags can fall off.

But a registered microchip provides permanent identification that can help reunite lost pets with the families who love them.

To help us get everyone in and out as quickly as possible, we are asking pet owners to pre-register using the link below:

https://new.shelterluv.com/form/community/BAS/26885-free-microchip

Pre-registration allows us to enter your contact information and your pet's information before you arrive, making the process fast and easy.

The microchip itself only takes a couple of minutes to place.

No appointment is necessary, but pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Microchips will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Every year after the Fourth of July, shelters across the country see an increase in lost pets. Don't wait until after the fireworks to take this simple step that could make all the difference.

A few minutes on June 24th could mean the difference between a lost pet and a quick reunion.

This event is made possible through the continued support of Bayou Friends Forever, whose commitment to animal welfare helps keep pets safe, healthy, and where they belong—with their families.

Because the best Fourth of July is the one where everyone makes it home safely. ❤️🐾

Please share with your friends, family, and neighbors throughout Galveston County!

🔥 "I WAS ONLY GOING TO BE A MINUTE." 🔥

We hear it every summer.

"It wasn't that hot."

"The windows were cracked."

"I was only running inside for a minute."

Today, it was 95 degrees outside.

At that temperature, the inside of a parked vehicle can quickly climb well over 120 degrees.

For dogs, that can become a life-threatening emergency in a very short amount of time.

Unlike people, dogs do not cool themselves efficiently through sweating. They primarily rely on panting to regulate their body temperature.

When the air around them becomes too hot, that system fails.

Their body temperature rises.

Their organs begin to suffer.

Heat stroke sets in.

And sometimes, there isn't enough time to save them.

What makes these situations especially heartbreaking is that they are completely preventable.

If you cannot take your pet inside with you, please leave them at home where they are safe and comfortable.

Even a quick stop can become a tragedy.

Even a cloudy day can be dangerous.

Even with the windows cracked.

Even if your pet has never had a problem before.

When temperatures reach the mid-90s, a vehicle is not a waiting room.

It is an oven.

At Bayou Animal Services, we want every pet owner to enjoy a safe summer with their animals.

Please help us spread the word.

If you see an animal in distress inside a vehicle, contact local law enforcement immediately.

One decision.

One minute.

One life.

Please leave pets at home during the Texas heat. ❤️🐾

💔 COCO AND MICHAEL DESERVED BETTER 💔

Today, two more kittens came through our doors.

Both are only about 10 weeks old.

Both are spending the night at the veterinary hospital.

Both are facing surgery tomorrow.

And both are suffering from conditions that likely could have been prevented or treated much earlier if someone had been able to intervene.

Meet CoCo.

CoCo has an eye injury that became so severely infected that tomorrow her eye will need to be removed.

Somewhere along the way, this tiny kitten got hurt.

And because she was living outdoors without anyone monitoring her health, that injury continued to worsen until saving the eye was no longer possible.

Then there is Michael.

Michael arrived with a severely pr*****ed re**um caused by an overwhelming parasite burden.

At just 10 weeks old, his little body has already endured more pain than most animals should experience in a lifetime.

Tomorrow, he will undergo surgery in hopes of correcting the damage.

If the surgery is unsuccessful, euthanasia may be the only humane option left.

Ten weeks old.

A baby.

And already fighting for his life.

This is the reality we see when cats continue to reproduce unchecked.

We know most people who feed outdoor cats do so because they care.

We know their hearts are in the right place.

But food alone is not enough.

A bowl of food cannot prevent infection.

A bowl of food cannot treat parasites.

A bowl of food cannot spay a mother cat before she has another litter.

A bowl of food cannot stop suffering.

Real compassion means taking the next step.

It means spaying and neutering.

It means vaccinations.

It means monitoring for illness and injury.

It means asking for help before a colony grows beyond what one person can manage.

At Bayou Animal Services, we want to help.

We want fewer kittens born outdoors.

We want fewer emergency surgeries.

We want fewer animals suffering in silence.

Most of all, we want more happy endings.

If you are feeding community cats, please reach out to us. Our Community Cat Program exists to help citizens become part of the solution.

Tonight, CoCo and Michael are warm, safe, and receiving the medical care they desperately need.

Tomorrow, they will face surgeries that no kitten should ever have to endure.

If you would like to help them and future animals like them, please consider donating to our STAR (Special Treatment and Recovery) Fund. https://square.link/u/hEf28lXk

Your donations allow us to say "yes" when an animal has nowhere else to turn.

Please keep CoCo and Michael in your thoughts tomorrow.

They deserve the chance to know a life that doesn't hurt.

🐾 Meet Scorpio 🐾Scorpio is a handsome 4-month-old puppy who is currently thriving in a foster home while he waits for his forever family to find him.
This sweet boy is dog friendly and is already hard at work learning the basics of being a great family dog. He's currently working on commands like "sit" and "lay down," as well as potty training, and he's making great progress every day.
Like any puppy, Scorpio is looking for a family that will continue teaching him, helping him grow, and giving him all the love and guidance he needs. In return, you'll get a loyal best friend who is ready to learn and eager to be part of the family.
If you're ready for puppy snuggles, puppy adventures, and a lifetime of love, Scorpio may be the perfect match for you. 💛🐶
Scorpio is currently in a foster home. Submit an adoption application today, and we'll connect you with his foster family to schedule a meet and greet!

Jaxson is only about 8 months old, and we don't want this sweet boy growing up in the shelter. Like many black dogs, Jaxson tends to get overlooked, but those who know him can tell you just how special he is. He's a smart, happy-go-lucky pup who loves treats, playing with other friendly dogs, running around outside, and soaking up attention from people.
At his age, Jaxson is still learning and would love a family willing to continue teaching him the basics of being the best family dog he can be. He's eager to learn, full of potential, and ready to make someone an incredible companion for years to come.
Jaxson deserves more than a kennel—he deserves a couch, a backyard, adventures, and a family to call his own. 💛🐾
Come meet Jaxson and see why we're rooting so hard for this handsome boy. Available for adoption or foster through Bayou Animal Services. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/BAS-A-135509

🐾 "I COULD NEVER FOSTER..." 🐾

We hear it all the time.

"I'd get too attached."

"I work during the day."

"I already have pets."

"I've never done it before."

"I don't have enough time."

The truth?

Most of our foster families said the exact same thing before they started.

Fostering isn't one-size-fits-all.

Some fosters take bottle babies.

Some take puppies.

Some take kittens.

Some take senior pets.

Some foster for a weekend.

Some foster for a few weeks.

Some help a dog through heartworm treatment.

Some simply provide a couch and a little love while an animal waits for adoption.

You don't have to be perfect.

You don't have to be retired.

You don't have to have years of experience.

You don't even have to commit for months.

You simply have to care.

Bayou Animal Services provides food, supplies, medical care, and support.

You provide the one thing we can't.

A home.

Every foster home opens a kennel.

Every open kennel allows us to help another animal.

Every animal helped creates another success story.

Right now we have puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, medical fosters, short-term fosters, long-term fosters, and everything in between.

Some need a weekend.

Some need a few weeks.

Some just need someone willing to say, "I'll help."

If you've ever thought about fostering, now is the time.

Complete a foster application below and let's find the right fit for your family.

https://www.bayouanimalservices.org/foster

Already a foster?

Give us a call at 281-337-3117.

You don't have to save them all.

You just have to help one.

And sometimes, helping one changes everything. ❤️🐾

🐾 FOSTER NEEDED FOR JUST 3 DAYS 🐾

Meet Trinity. ❤️

This sweet little girl arrived at Bayou Animal Services all by herself.

At only about 10 weeks old, Trinity should be spending her days playing, napping, and being loved—not growing up in a shelter.

The good news is that she's already off to a great start.

✅ First round of vaccines
✅ Flea prevention
✅ Deworming started

Now she just needs a temporary place to stay while she completes her stray hold.

And here's the best part...

We're only asking for **three days**.

That's it.

Three days of cuddles.

Three days of puppy breath.

Three days of helping a baby get the best possible start while we prepare her for adoption.

Bayou Animal Services provides everything you need. Food, supplies, medical care, and support are all covered.

You provide a safe place for Trinity to rest, play, and simply be a puppy.

Sometimes saving a life doesn't require weeks or months.

Sometimes it only takes three days.

If you can open your home to Trinity for her hold period, please complete a foster application using the link below.
