🎉 We have good news FIRST….and then some not so good news. First, NYLA was adopted! Her sister sibling (hiding in the background) is actually thrilled. She just didn’t want to participate in 📸 day! We get it!

Second, and now the hard news, we are PAST CAPACITY! Every kennel and option is FULL! There are still so many dogs who need us and the nights in Detroit are reaching 30°.
We desperately need “Two Week Fosters” for medium and big dogs.

⛓️‍💥 How does “Two Week Fostering” work? Great question! You choose a date to pick up a dog from the shelter, and you also will KNOW the date to return them! It’s like a two sleep over! 🧸
🛑 No mix-ups, no long stays, no questions asked about returning the dog.
This is a great way for a pup to get a shelter break!

🙌 High FIVE! We are happy to report that ROCKY found his forever home last week and is doing great. Rocky came to us months ago after living in some horrible conditions. His ears had been eaten by fliers, he had sores all over his body, he was isolated, shut down and didn’t trust anyone very well.

Our entire team worked to nurture Rocky back to health and teach him that humans, and human hands, would never inflict pain on him again.

Go BE GREAT, Sweet Boy! We are so proud of you! Thank you for trusting us.

We loved you. You were home with us.
We thought we were rescuing a senior dog who was pregnant, or a dog who never received care and was very ill. We are so sad to report our fears about Brownie were true. Her whole body was full of fluid and cancer, a tumor was on her face, and even with the best treatments, she wouldn’t have survived.

Brownie left us surrounded by compassion and love. Dr. Hawker and our team made sure she had a cheese burger and so much love. She became ours. We filled out adoption paperwork and told her she was home with us, even if only in our hearts.

Her life was anything but sweet, but she was our Brownie. Sometimes, this is rescue. We don’t get to decide who we take in, but we do stay by their side no matter what, and a piece of them always remains in our hearts.

Fly high Brownie you were loved here. 🌈 🐾

Every once in a while a little cat comes along who needs our help. This little was found sick and alone in a parking garage. We rushed to take in the little one and nursed him back to health. Last week “Pepper” was adopted and went to Go BE GREAT!
