A couple of years ago I was tasked with preparing breakfast for 150 inner city kids in Belize City for a mission trip. I had to prepare it in a village 45 minutes outside the city and figure out a creative way to keep it warm and make it something quick and filling for the youth attending the mission event. These Bacon Cheddar Biscuits fit the bill! Two of us made 300 biscuits to hand out to the kids! We wrapped them individually in foil and placed them in an insulated cooler to keep them warm til we could pass them out. They were a big hit with the kids and our team. I was amazed that people just kept coming back to the food table for more ALL day and we still had plenty left at the end of the day to send home with the kids to share with their families. These are a staple at our house and one of my favorite quick breakfasts to grab cause it already has protein in it and they reheat so well! These will be available at the Cleveland Market and I’ll have some samples for y’all to try! The are 6 in a box for nine dollars. Come try them tomorrow, This Thursday at Bradley Square Mall in Cleveland TN from 3-7pm!

You know me as a Tulip Farmer but at heart I’ve always been a baker. My uncle taught his daughter and I how to make sourdough when I was 12-that was 40 years ago! We made our bread and walked through neighborhoods selling it door to door! Then when I was 16 I started working at a local sourdough bakery only to learn that the owner had bought our bread and been inspired to start her bakery which is still a very successful business! I worked there for a few years and learned a lot. Then my parents bought a restaurant and we started making the bread for their sourdough sandwiches (which were divine) and I continued making bread to sell at their restaurant. Over the years I’ve continued to sell bread on occasion but I’m getting serious about it now that I have an official farm kitchen separate from our home kitchen. I do hope to see you at some of the local markets in Cleveland, Ooltewah and Hixson! Have YOU tried any of my bakery items yet?

I’m excited to offer our very own Sanctuary Ridge Farm tulip bulb mix for tulip lovers to plant in their own landscaping or flower pots this November! I will have a limited quantity of these available in packs of one dozen for 15 dollars at upcoming markets. Just a few more days until we are at the Farmers Market INSIDE Bradley Square Mall in Cleveland TN from 3-7 every 1st and 3rd Thursday! It’s the perfect time to check out all the local goods and support farmers and small businesses! Hope to see you there!
