Last weekend was the Missouri Taxidermy Association’s show and Doug and I both went.
Doug put together another coyote and I put together a magnificent Whitetail that I was blessed with two years ago that I nick- named “Big Boy”.
We had a wonderful time at the show meeting new people and learning how to better ourselves as Taxidermist. The amount of talent that God has poured into that showroom was unreal!!
We were both fortunate enough to take home blue ribbons on all of our pieces! It was an extremely tough show. We were surrounded by such great artists that have won world titles and national titles!!! It was great being surrounded by such talent!! We were surrounded by a great group of people willing to share all the secrets and talents!! It’s like a family reunion for Taxidermist , very inspiring for sure! I also brought my Bobcat that I brought to the Iowa show and he took home a blue ribbon as well. We can’t wait to apply what we have learned from the shows that we have attended!
One of the coolest things that happened I think was we got to meet a young man named Tanner. He enjoys Taxidermy and does Taxidermy himself. He is also a great artist and likes to choose some of the pieces from the show that appeal to him. He likes to sketch them in his sketchbook as a reminder of the shows that he attended in the pieces that caught his eye.
Wouldn’t you know it? We met him on Friday night and he was speaking about his sketchbook and how he chooses the amounts that appeal to him. He opens up his phone and there sits a picture of Doug‘s coyote and my Bobcat!!! What an honor! He said I could share the sketch and I sure will. Thank you again Tanner if you see this, it was a pleasure to meet you. I think there should be an official Tanner Award!! I know Doug and I felt like we won one once we saw the sketches in the book!
